The Science Museum don't seem to like visitors to Wroughton. I think the runways are still extant but I'm pretty sure most of the grassed areas are now covered in solar panels! Cheers Keith

A few years back there was talk about moving the rally to Turweston. I don’t know how realistic that was/is….
Personally I’d like to see it somewhere further north- less convenient but might attract different visitors.

Bob,
I'm told that Wroughton is now a solar panel farm and the runway doesn't exist anymore, can anyone confirm?

I have to say Keith that I didn't realise how large Keevil is, more than ample room to hold anything there really. Good video by the way.

I think Keefy has answered your queerie Dave re Wroughton- a field of solar panels- so that ones out, Phil, Turweston were having problems with neighbours regarding the amount of flights in and out - but may have been resolved now that the Air Britain Flyin has been there- the airliners maybe the problem with Kemble- so Keevil looking promising and of course Cranfield. Blackpool is a big airfield. But lots of housing around- most the fields used are not in built up areas. Leicester could be a suggestion or Duxford. Maybe jumping the gun, more than likely be at Sywell again next year Happy Days Bob

Looking at this it does indeed show that a big slice of Wroughton is now covered in solar panels, the runway looks OK for GA but of course, the resolution on the clip is nowhere good enough to show any potential potholes and the like.

I have seen SPECULATION IDEAS for the next years LAA RALLY. No aircraft reports seen on AFA though. I am unable to sort my logs for the next ten days due to work commitments. Les
