Hopefully no issues posting this! In association with the International Auster Club, the Museum of Army Flying and the Army Air Corps, Threshold.aero is returning to Middle Wallop to celebrate another former AAC type; the venerable Taylorcraft Auster. Bigger and better than before, the event will span the weekend of 7-8 April 2018.
2018 marks the 80th anniversary of Taylorcraft Aeroplanes (England) Ltd, the builders of the iconic Auster air observation post (AOP) aircraft. A derivative of the Taylor (now Piper) Cub, more than 1,600 Austers were produced during WWII and the type’s success continued post-war with production of the AOP.9 ceasing in 1961.See more at www.auster80.co.uk.

On my wish list for attendance would have been B.8 Agricoa G-CBOA but a quick check on G-INFO shows it to have been exported to New Zealand in 2016 so I've got a long way to go if I want to catch up on that one

Yes shame that, I checked on CBOA a few weeks ago. Not needed but it’s an interesting, different type.
I’m hoping for G-AHAO which I missed at Popham in 2015. I don’t know if it’s airworthy now or not...

I attended this event on the Saturday, was slightly disappointed by the turnout - the event website listed over 50 Auster's for the fly-in on the Saturday plus about a dozen other aircraft. In the end I think 17 fly-ins were there ... well 18 if you included the Robin. I stayed until about 2pm, so not sure if there were any later arrivals. An organiser said they were keeping the field open until 3pm just in case. There are a few photos after the log. My full album of the event is on flickr ( Auster 80th Anniversary, Middle Wallop). Here's a log of those that made it in ... plus a few extra's because I walked up to the main gate to get the 4 gate guards. There were several lynx visible outside the MPSU, I could only read off the one nearest the fence line and the C172 was also 'base-side' of the fence near the museum. There is a list of other Lynx outside the MPSU from a couple of weeks ago available on a few forums, they were probably the others I could see but can't guarentee it so I won't list them here. Shame about the weather- both on the day, and in the week leading up to it. I heard that part of the problem was many of the strips that the Austers were based at were waterlogged, so they couldn’t get out. It was still a nice event, but could have been a fantastic day.
CheshireExile- I don’t think you missed anything by leaving at 2. I left around then (as BEAH arrived) to go to Upavon. I returned an hour later and nothing else had arrived, so I left!
Cheers
