hi, I felt abit like Noah must have done, Friday pm, the rain and clouds of the last 4 days cleared, I looked out to see LN-LNV, heading north. Today I was back to clouds with snow showers, and its football this afternoon, so nothing for today, but the forecast for the end of the month is cold but with clear skies...so bring em on...

Forgive my ignorance ZZ but is that a license built Jaguar?

Post by zz on Oct 28, 2018 10:51:00 GMT
No, but it does look fairly similar.
Straight from Wikipedia....
The Soko J-22 Orao (Serbian: Орао, lit. 'eagle') is a Yugoslav twin-engined, subsonic ground-attack and reconnaissance aircraft. It was designed as a single-seat main attack version or as a combat capable two-seat version for advanced flying and weapon training. It was developed as a joint Yugoslav-Romanian project in the 1970s for the air forces of both nations. It was built by SOKO in Yugoslavia and by Avioane Craiova as the IAR-93 Vultur in Romania.

OK thanks, the main undercarriage is pretty much identical to the Jaguar's which is why I though it might have been a license version. Jaguar main undercarriage by Graham Brown, on Flickr

If you remember the Cillit Bang commercial with a purple jet in it- that was an Orao. In fact that aircraft was at the museum but repainted!

Was entertaining friends from Yorkshire so did not switch on the radar until they left at 16.30, but a very profitable evening, nothing out of the ordinary but a few gap fillers:
HL7202 773 Korean inbound LHR (assume they have reverted to 77s for the Winter) G-DHKA 752F DHL inbound LHR F-HZGS 320 Air Corse inbound STN G-JZBP 738 Jet2 inbound STN EI-FVY 738 and EI-FYH 738MAX Norwegian heading for the sunshine
YR-BMO 738 Blue and HB-JFS F.7X were scrapes
(Edit) But missed VT-GHI 738 Air India Express out of BHX, presumably on delivery. However, G-UZHS 320N easyJet inbound LTN was a bonus.

A singleton in clear blue skies while walking to the station this morning. Unfortunately the cloud had rolled in by the time I made the return journey. Not long now until it will be dark going to and come home from work reducing the chances of spots like this.

2 recent deliveries on LHR09 approach today, N796AV 788 Avianca and HL7204 773 Korean.
Just gone overhead (20.20) above the cloud is 9V-SGC 350LR Singapore on the SQ21 EWR-SIN. First time I have noted one of these in UK airspace. The reverse flight SQ22 is 9V-SGA and has just left SIN but appears to be going transpacific rather than transatlantic.
Our cleaning lady comes on Wednesday and I like to keep out of her way - usually I work in the study on the computer but today I decided to visit a couple of fairly local fields. The first was Elstree - I had not been for about a year but did not take a full log as I recognised many of the long-term residents. I wore my reflective jacket and asked in the tower for permission to go airside - this was granted provided I did not enter any hangars without clearance from someone inside, and did not go nearer the runway than the main taxiway. Made 20:
9H-XYZ DA62 G-CEKD Flight Design CTSW G-CIOY Beech 36 G-FLOW C.172S G-HALS R-44 II G-MAXA PA32.301FT G-NBPL AS.355 G-OCOK Champion 8KCAB G-RJVH Guimbral Cabri G-SRZZ Cirrus SR22 G-TIMIBristell Speed Wing G-VVBZ Guimbral Cabri G-YARD R-44 II HA-JBH C.F150L N66M PA28RT.201T N78EM Cirrus SR22 N139LC Cirrus SR22 N162AW PA18.150 N256PT Beech 58 N268ML PA28.161
Had intended to visit Denham on the way home, but there were roadworks and diversions, not clear how to get to the field so I gave it a miss.
