"GIANT1" 272 KC707 Israeli AF................arrived around 15:00BST (F-15s first) with
"ATOMI 1" Flight (in order of landing) 715 (90-0277) F-15D Israeli AF/106Sqdn 810 (80-0123) F-15C Israeli AF/106Sqdn 706 (90-0276) F-15D Israeli AF/106Sqdn 583 (83-0067) F-15C Israeli AF/106Sqdn.......incorrect FMS serial, should be 83-0062 733 (90-0275) F-15D Israeli AF/106Sqdn 818 (80-0125) F-15C Israeli AF/106Sqdn.......marked with 1 and a half kill marks (Syrian roundels) 980 (80-0055) F-15D Israeli AF/106Sqdn
The above USAF style serial (in brackets above) is carried on the tail and is their FMS serial. In the case of 980, the serial is its former USAF identity with 114FS/Oregon ANG at Klamath Falls before delivery through Lakenheath in Sept 2016.
Where can the Israelis be seen? They are parked on Delta ramp which is the big dispersal area in the SE corner (see Google Maps).
However, because of all the parking restrictions that have been imposed by Traffic Order, the roads down that end are very much an enforced "no go" area. Also no parking on the A15 which also now has a 30mph limit and no overtaking. The fields down the Southern end are off limits too and the land owner is telling people to leave as they are trespassing.
Two possibilities exist. First, is to view them from the A607 looking East across the Southern end of the runway. Second, they are visible by walking up the A15 from the W.A.V.E viewing area to just beyond the runway centreline lights and then looking back down the runway and just to your left. Hedges have been cut on the A15.
Word to photographers. No step ladders AT ALL on the airfield side of the A15. This will be enforced. They are permitted on the W.A.V.E. (Eastern) side.
Also, the Lincolnshire Police have posted on social media that they want the aviation community to enjoy themselves, but please remember to keep safe and be sensible.

Thank you for the vote of confidence, Mandy. I merely do what I can to cater for the military minded on here regarding the interesting stuff.
I'm stuck at home for the next week unfortunately, relying on FC, ADS-B and PlanePlotter. Then, about a week or so after that, I will be off to Mildenhall for my usual Autumn long stay. I'm still debating as to whether I will have time in that week in between....

Thanks for the reports Bob.
Paid a quick visit today after Sywell. Got close to all the Israeli by the southern crash gate. Saw all 4 Italian Eurofighters.
Could only definitely see 9 out of 10 German Eurofighters and didn’t read any, so not sure which they were. But not to worry- only need 4 of the 10 and it was the Israeli and Italian that we were after!
Cheers Phil

Hi Phil,
I assume that the Southern crash gate is accessed off the A607?
Apparently, all 10 Germans are visible from the W.A.V.E. (with a little bit of walking down past the Vulcan).

Hi Bob Accessed off the B1178 (west) - the lay-by has been closed for cars but yesterday it was possible to walk down the access road to the gate (parking in a lay-by on the opposite side of the B1178). My mate walked from north of the WAVE(which was closed) past the Vulcan, to the B1178 (east) whilst I drove. We could only be sure of seeing 9 German, but weren’t too disappointed. I’m sure we’ll see the 4 we need at Berlin, RIAT or this exercise in the future!

Hi Phil,
Russ ("tarnish15") went today and has reported (in the September thread) that 30+56 was hangared - so only 9 were outside anyway. Problem solved.

Quite busy at the WAVE today though when we arrived around 1145 (via Fairford for C5 and C17) and Cranwell (rubbish) there was a good 20 or so empty parking slots (a small number of cars had parked on the old dispersals). Plenty of step ladders on the airfield side of the A15! The Italians, Israelis and Germans were all busy today with perhaps the best sight being Luftwaffe A310 10+24 doing an approach with 4 x EF2000 at around 1240. Plenty of civvy stuff overhead too as the sky was clear.
All the Israelis were visible from the A607 without the slog to the crash gate from the B1178 - as Phil said, people were parking up on the opposite side of the road and walking up.
We did a brief stop at Conz on the way back where there were some 18 Typhoons on the pan.

Today's activities now updated to include those not plotting or not reported earlier.
Re the B1178 crash gate, on Wednesday, the police were stopping people from walking up the lane from the (closed off) layby. Opposite layby was open.

Just a few from yesterday morning. Arrived just before the morning launch and stayed for the recovery. Plenty of room in the wave car park (all very well organised thanks to the WAVE volunteers and the police). Confirming that when not flying the Israelis (6 of the 7 launched) and the Italians are clearly visible from separate points on the A607. Sadly the special marked German (30+73) remained hangared and out of sight. Had seen 980 in its days with the USAF 57th Wing at Nellis, Nevada back in 2000 as 80-0055 "WA". My wife and I visited Waddington yesterday. Although we had plenty of rain there was plenty to log. RH226 logs help when checking - thanks Bob. Just 3 queries if anyone can help :- Phenom that left around 9am EH101 with logo and 54 on tail. KC707? all white part hidden behind building. MTIA Les

Hi Les,
What a miserable day you chose to go - weatherwise, of course.
Can't help you with the Phenom, I'm afraid.
The 54 Sqdn special tail Sentry is ZH107 and is WFU. The KC707? is the "Frisbee"-less and WFU ZH105.
Cheers,
Bob
