Just putting the feelers out so bear with me. Although we speak to each other on here on a daily basis we rarely can put a face to a name, how many time have we been at the same location as another member only to find out later while reading or viewing photos, or said a polite hello to fellow spotters at locations around the country without realising they are AFA members There is a possibility of a car sticker being produced for the members at a minimal cost, no design has yet been formulated as trying to gauge interest before we take it any further.
Any ideas on size or design would be great as well and we can mould it from there š

Hi Jeff, what a good idea, I too have often wondered whether there have been other members at shows I've been too. I've no doubt walked straight past fellow members without even realising. I have been lucky to meet up with a good few AFA-ers over the years since we got going and some of course, are old friends from school days but there are plenty more, especially the regular contributors who it would be good to say hello too. I would be most likely to stick it on my camera bag as it would be "mobile" then should I be strolling around a GA park or show like RIAT or Yeovilton

hi, anything mobile wise would be great, it would be a improvement on "i will be in a pink tee-shirt, or wearing a Russian army hat", and avoid any embarrassing "are you from a4a" moments... stay safe, regards, dave...

Do we have any preference to style, these will come in the form of a sihloutte so not fancy and multicolured, do we want a particular aircraft, or something else? We were thinking black and grey depending on car colour so as to be subtle...... However if we're sticking them on camera bags etc is there other colours you would be interested in?

Hi guys I am the one who will be producing the logo sticker. The stickers are made of a high quality vinyl main colour is black but any colour can be done. Jeff approached me this afternoon about this. Pricing for a basic logo sticker you are looking at about Ā£5 per sticker depending on size etc. Right I will leave it to you guys to think of what you would like and I will see what I can come up with...Ken

So what does everyone think, I'm reckoning on something not too big or fussy, do we want writing on it, a Web address, do we want an aircraft, what type of aircraft if we do, light, biz military or airliner, do we want something else other than an aircraft. So many question....... Thinking hats on boys and girls it's a blank sheet at the moment

If it were in the style of a luggage tag, it could be moved from camera bag to rucksack etc. As to design, if we go for aircraft, surely we go iconic like Spitfire and Concorde?
I like the idea of adding the website address to encourage new recruits.
Totally incidentally, I have an AFA tie. In the days when I refereed football rather than rugby, my parent county was the Amateur Football Alliance, hence AFA.

Bit of an update, Ken has advised that the vinyl stickers need a hard flat surface to stick.

Is there a "standard" size for a luggage tag? We have a couple of plastic ones here at home somewhere, probably with the cases in the loft so if the sticker were oblong, then it could slip straight into the tag as long as the backing plastic were left on the sticker. How about a B & W sticker, our website address and a logo rather like the PlaneBase one of a black or white, silhouette aircraft? planebase.biz/

Letters inside circle instead of outside of circle

Prefer letters inside of circle.

Ken has cut one on a bit of grey offcut vinyl just to see how it came out, bear in mind the white backing peels off leaving the sticker clear except the writing as below

Any body any more thoughts on the car stickers? The mark 2 version is winning by 2 votes so far

Out of the 2, I definitely prefer the second version. Itās simple, clear and classy.
Are these the final choices? I know Iām a bit late to this discussion, but I wonder whether Concorde says āaviation for allā?
If the design had 2 or 3 silhouettes - so 2 or 3 of either a light aircraft, microlight, helicopter, airliner (possibly Concorde), bizjet, a military aircraft, a balloon... etc.. then that to me would be more representative of AFA.
However, I guess the beauty of the current design is the clarity and simplicity which might easily be lost with 2 or 3 silhouettes. Anyway, just a thought Cheers Phil

I think too many aircraft could clutter the design, plus I think Concorde is liked by everyone and recognisable even to non aircraft liking types, of course another type could be considered, do we have any suggestions?

I understand what you are saying about more aircraft but as Jeff rightly said it will start to look cluttered. From past experience the simpler you keep the logo the more impact it has. If you want to see more silhouettes I have done please take a look at my Facebook page www.facebook.com/Flightlinesilhouettes/I'm happy to do what ever you guys require.. Ken
