Per QHM she's arriving back in Portsmouth this afternoon 19/05/21 moving at 17.45 from Outer Spit Buoy to Princes Royal Jetty, no idea what's still loaded, wasn't expecting her back in, guess there is a problem?

Aircraft are on deck as per a photo I've seen, she is back for a photo shoot with the other carrier, Prince of Wales which is currently empty. Possibly some assets will move from one to the other

John
Rumour has it that she was due to shelter in the Solent from the expected bad weather and resupply as there was a fire on one of the support ships and a lot of food stores was lost. But then it was decided it would be easier to bring her along side.
On Facebook it has been said that she will have some F35's on deck, so in case and as its only 15 minutes along the coast i will be there to see if that is true.
Also just arrived are two Canadian ships HMCS Kingston & Summerside which my have helicopters on board.

Thanks for the information Jeff & Trevor, The Canadians are both only coastal forces so I don't think they'll have helicopters, but they're still worth seeing on North Corner Jetty if you're also into shipping as I am.
You may like to know that USS THE SULLIVANS DDG68 is coming into Portsmouth tomorrow 20/05/21 moving at 06.20 Outer Spit Buoy to Victory Jetty (bows south) per QHM

There are 16x F-35s on HMS QNLZ's deck - 9x USMC plus 7x RAF - and 4x Merlins on deck.
The two missing F-35s are ZM153/019 and the colourful 169621/CF-01.
The i/ds of the 4x Merlins are unknown at present.

Thanks for the heads up everyone. Was working nearby so just called past and had a quick look from Gosport. Everything on the above list was seen (above deck) except that there only appeared to be 4, rather than 5 British F-35s at the stern. (Starboard side). Only had a quick look at my photos but it appears to have been ZM155 /021 that was missing.
Cheers everyone
Phil

Impressed by the angle you managed to get on the Canadians, where were you taking the photo's from?
Did you photo USS The Sullivans DDG-68 too?

Hi folks - just to say a big thank you for your reports.
I too went down to Gosport today and worked my way through the boatyards and apartment blocks to be 100% sure I saw everything on top deck. I only have a small set of binoculars and don't do photography so no zoom. Anyhow, I'm quietly confident that I saw everything on top - this was between 1145 and 1230 today - there were 5 Merlins on top but as Phil said, there was an RAF 35 missing at the rear.
I have to say this short visit brings back so many teen memories from the late 60's when the likes of Eagle, Hermes and Ark Royal would berth alongside often with a few Phantoms, Buccaneers, Gannets etc. In fact the last time I can recall a proper carrier alongside in the Naval base (excluding our 3 Invincible class) was I think the USS Nassau back in the 90's which had a mixture of AV8's and helicopters.
I'm just glad the USMC are onboard as part of the task force that will venture through the south China sea - I think to do it alone as a UK only operation would have been a big mistake. Cheers Keith
