20 October
A good day. Air Transat A321 C-GOIS sailed over on its way home. Then 737Max TC-LYA out of Gatwick and EC-NGX C510 into Biggin Hill, and incredibly on its umpteenth visit to the UK, JetBlue N4022J finally, finally! Every other visit was either hidden by clag, or landed the ‘wrong way’ on 09s. Today it left Gatwick and came a long way east before crossing the Thames over the city, and popped out from the clouds!
Other highlights for the day were 91-0502 USN C26 heading north, followed by Lauda A320 9H-LON.
The day concluded with Emirates A380 A6-EVQ on its maiden visit to Heathrow just visible after dark.
21 October.
Quality and quantity today.

Roadworks, road closures (of major roads), diversions, queues.....that was the story of a horrendous trip to the 'Hall yesterday to get the Qatar F-15s. What should be a 3h30m - 3h45m journey became 4h15m on the way up and 5h15m on the way back. I didn't get home until 21:00.........absolutely knackered me.
Apart from the Qataris, I noted the Alaskan ANG KC-135R 63-8028 and 62AW C-17A 00-0216, neither being needed. I didn't bother checking, but the two RC-135s should also have been present (62-4126 and 64-14842).
Annoyingly, my sole needed Osprey 08-0049 was out and about as "KNIFE72", but didn't put in an appearance while I was there.
Didn't bother going on to Marham for the F-35 delivery.

I had to make a day trip to Nottinghamshire today, so called past Mildenhall. With a stop at Stansted too, that made it a 5h 15 min trip on the way up! Fortunately only 2.35 on the way back!! Saw the 4 Qatari F-15s, also needed 164996 C-130 and 14-5805 based C-130. 74-0787 E-4 and 59-1516 KC-135 Wisconsin were present but not needed. The Alaskan KC-135 had gone, so no photo opportunity, but had seen it at Fairford in 1985!

That's when I first saw it too.
Didn't need 14-5805 as I caught that one lunchtime back in July 2017 during one of our long stays. It had only stayed for 1 hour.

Bit of a up and down day weather wise on Friday lots of wind and heavy rain but with the odd bit of blue blowing through- and four more hit the books:- G-LMTA- ATR 72 Loganair outbound LPL OY-RME- F2000LX southbound 9H-ILV- CRJ2 southbound M-ABON- Global 6000 southbound Looks like more wind and rain today Saturday- looking out of my man cave window confirms that fact and with LPL on 09 landings and takings off- so maybe just a bit of shopping and TV- but never say never. Hi Bob & ZZ, I was up there yesterday (29th) also for the Qatari’s, which were gratefully parked out in the open) but the only other thing of note, but not needed, was USMC KC-130J 165810 which arrived as we were leaving at 12.15. The traffic was dreadful on the M25 when we were going up (fortunately, in the opposite direction) but it had caused massive queues on the way home. So we diverted via A505/A1(M)/A414 etc and joined M25 at London Conley, made it back in 2hrs 40mins… But having said all that I still managed to make 7, and that’s on top of Monday’s (25th) visit when I made another 3… Bill

I was pleased to be heading up to Nottinghamshire after Mildenhall, rather than home!

Well, that was pot of the month, Mauretania Airlines B737MAX 5T-CLJ heading north to my east, heading for Glasgow. My first actual 5T reg aircraft, although I currently have five on their register that I saw wearing previous identities.
