Here we are, the end of summer, no autumn as usual, straight into winter, the heating comes on, assuming of course that you can afford to have it on, and just to cheer us up even further, less than three months until the financial ruin commonly known as "Christmas".

Quick catch up on the first three days of October although indifferent weather a steady trickle into the book:- 1st:-A6-EVM- A380 Emirates eastbound HB-AFW- ATR-72 Zimex eastbound ex DUB G-DNOP- PA46 ILS x 2 into LPL 2nd:-N413DX- A330-9 Delta eastbound EJ-KGRP- G550 Southbound 3rd:-9H-VUR- 737-8 Malta Air inbound LPL F-HZUA- A220 Air France outbound MAN F-HZUE- A220 Air France outbound MAN Also I know it's not aviation but went for a knock on our local golf course with my mate who is also in his seventies- when he was a lot younger he was playing almost off scratch and if he had stuck with it I am sure he would have made pro, but he fell in love and that was it. -I myself reached the heady heights of 8 handicap and I was quite pleased with my 42 on the front nine before my back started playing up- so we headed to the 19th hole for a couple of beers. Anyway did manage one birdy 3 x pars and 5 bogeys. Then headed home and put the clubs away for this year- so it's back to aviation. Oh to be young again. Happy Days Bob

Well done Bob, it's a game I could watch all day on the telly but have never had the desire or inclination to play. The company I work for gets invites for, and sometimes hosts a golf day, most of my colleagues play to a certain degree so I tend to have the day off, which suits me fine.
Decent day yesterday, had a work call in Andover so came home via Thruxton where I made the PC-12 which departed while I was there. Nothing else of interest at Thruxton, a field I must have visited 25 times since I started spotting again in 2013.

To be honest with you Graham- I used to play a lot up to a few years ago- but these days I would sooner be looking at planes. Only went yesterday because my mate invited me to go and he still has it in his locker 3 birdies, 4 pars and two bogeys and both those he lipped the cup with his putts. Happy days Bob

Wednesday was horrible- rained off and on for most of the day, but around 16:30 a bit of blue sky appeared- and I managed to add one to the log in the form of West Yorkshire Police EC135 G-POLB heading towards Manchester at 1,100 feet. Today Thursday- started off blue but it has now clouded over, but at least it's not currently raining. Happy Days Bob

Had a couple of days away this weekend in Evesham as we were going to visit Highclere Castle for a tour on the Saturday- so no cops on Friday as we were travelling down, but at Highclere on the Saturday where it was wall to wall blue skies, before and after the tour I managed to add a few low flyers who were taking in the view:- G-CKWO- Eurofox G-HZRD- AW119 G-SORG- DA50 G-TIPY- CZAW N199MW-PA32R 2-YULL- Sr20 On our way home managed a quick visit to Oxford where a further three hit the books:- G-CMCZ- PA28 N225TJ- C525 CJ3 2-PASB- Da40 Then it was back to the hotel for a nice meal and a few beers- and a Happy Wife who had visited Highclere as she is a big Downton Abbey fan. Five frames and a scrape yesterday, wall-to-wall sunshine all day which was perfect as we finished putting up out new shed and then stared sorting out the twenty years' worth of crap that had accumulated in the old one. Rather than dig out a base, put down hard core, a surround to keep the sand intact, then sand for the slabs to act as a base, we used 500mm x 500mm prefabricated heavy duty plastic base panels that connect together very securely to make the base size you require. The base is about four inches thick and once in place, you fill it with pea gravel of which we needed about 600kg.
You do of course still need a level area of ground first on which to lay the panels but having laid shed bases, patios etc before, this took a fraction of the time but unlike slabs, will not sink over a period of time.
