Back to work today after a great week. 5 days in New York with my daughter- lots made in and out of the local airports, overflying helicopters as well as a fairly big log for JFK. Among all the tourist sites we also made the obligatory visit to the USS Intrepid. My only other visit there was in 1988 so several new made there. Will try and post a few logs and pics.
Then on return I spent Saturday at RIAT. Somewhere between 45 - 50 made, not finished checking a few of the civil yet. Then Kemble and Brize for a Saudi Herc on the way home.
Not sure there’s much to look forward to until Bristol now, so a bit of time to get logs sorted!
Hope everyone who went enjoyed Fairford- despite the weather. On Saturday I was pleasantly surprised how much of the display went ahead- especially after the Festival of Speed was cancelled that day. Well done to the organisers and all those involved!

Yesterday defied the met office's grim forecast and was a decent day of warm, sunny intervals. Had to make a quick work call in Salisbury which paid off when a needed AAC Apache flew across me close to Boscombe Down.

Only managed this one as it was visible from the road passing Tatenhill on the way to play football at St Georges Park this evening, otherwise nothing doing. Forecast is pretty rotten, however whllst it would be nice to have some summer back I can't help thinking much of Europe would swap with us right now.

Frustrating this morning. The first cell of F35s plus KC135 stopped trailing just before reaching the Thames, and I could only make out 3 of the 4 fighters at 27,000 ft, so I only could log the KC135 60-0353. The second flight eluded me altogether.

Well, yesterday started wet and horrible but for once, the forecast for it to brighten up by 1pm did materialise but despite the good weather and relatively clear skies, I didn't see anything of any interest. So, the good lady and I drowned our sorrows by heading to the pub at 5.30pm.
Today's weather is exactly the opposite, clear skies until 11am, but now, it's been peeing down since then and shows no likelihood of stopping so odds on a second blank day.

I think the awful weather throughout July has been ably demonstrated by the lack of daily reports on here. I ended up making 146 frames and 34 scrapes, mainly from home, although the total was enhanced by sitting at the top of Blunsdon Hill on RIAT departures day and bagging some from there with help from bins and the VRs.
