Haven’t been to arrivals day yet.
I’ve just spent several days walking the field, from 7am to 7pm.
We tended to do a couple of areas of interest each day, then spend a couple of hours at the end of the day just in the GA areas (north 40) to boost numbers. So exhibition, home builds then GA. Then next day warbirds, finish home builds, then GA. Then next day classic, vintage, GA. Then next day museum, Basler, Lake Winnebago floatplane base….
Watching the arrivals today it does look insane. Landing 3 abreast, with a group of 3 touching down every 15-20 seconds. In a 5 minute period there was a group of about 50 Mooneys landing together! I would like to go and see that, but then it would probably mean I’d write everything down twice, if I then walked round the field for the week!

Lol, so the trick is walk round the fields after they land 😉
She who must be obeyed after watching the live stream asked me why we havnt been before ? Evidently she reckons she would love it 🤭

We stayed in Appleton which is a 30ish minute drive from Oshkosh. It was a fairly average motel, but we were barely in it! After walking so many miles every day you just need a bed! Appleton has its own airfield which has a Gulfstream facility so worth a stop too. There is also a F-86 in town.
But you can stay at Oshkosh in some of the university campus rooms. That way you’re almost at the airfield, but I’ve never done that so don’t know much about it.
Tickets for the show this year are $140 for a weeks ticket if you are an EAA member. It costs $43 to become a member. Not bad for a whole week but there are daily rates too. I think you may pay for parking as well. However, another option is to try and get press tickets. We did this last time as two of our party were LAAS editors, and so we received free passes. If you were to contact them in advance and say you ran Aviationforall and sent them an example of some of the content, then maybe you could go down this route. Worth a go,

Or look at an aviation tour company - loads of them do Oshkosh. Obviously you’ll pay a little more but they’ll take care of everything.
As an example, Oxford Aviation Group’s 2023 Chicago and Oshkosh tour-
Tour cost is £1800 based on twin room sharing. This includes the return flight from Manchester or London, 8 nights accommodation, ground transport, 6 days entry for EA AirVenture at Oshkosh and entry into all the museums. Not bad value for over 3,500 aircraft

I have relatives just outside Milwaukee just over an hour away. Stayed there, hired a car and used to drive up via Fond Du Lac, who themselves have loads of parked up aircraft visiting EAA

Hi Dave, there's a full list of every year's PFA rallies some where on the web, as soon as I remember what it's called, I'll post the link. Here it is peterandsusan.co.uk/laarally/

The problem is, if you use lists from years past, how do you know which ones you saw? Especially at the old PFA rally’s where it was easy to miss a few.

Well, I suppose if you distinctly remember seeing a specific aircraft then it would help with identifying it.

hi, thanks Graham, i have looked at that website before, but, there's always a but, and its a big major but, i don't remember what was there!!! unless i've made a special note. Anyway's i've just severed contact with Oshkosh, don't airfields look empty after most have gone home... also a question for any other's that have used the webcams, do you think attendance of aircraft and people has been down on other years?
regards, dave...

I went 3 times in the 80s-1984,1987 and 1988 and I think by the opening Monday the field was full to capacity to visiting GA aircraft, who had to go to Fond Du Lac and other local fields. Showplanes were to still allowed to land. The GA parking the far side of the runway seemed a lot busier then as well. It seemed a lot quieter this time than I recall towards the end of the week but it was nearly 40 years ago. The show stands/Boeing plaza are a lot bigger now and larger crowds of people.
