I thought the 748 was penciled in as a G-reg one out of STN, or is Volga Dnepr the same outfit ?

QATAR are also said to be bringing a Gulfstream 650 and an all business class A319, this would make the 319 either A7-CJA or CJB which were used on the slot sitting late night routes into LHR last year. Unless of course they have others on order !

Is it just me that is thoroughly underwhelmed by what FIA has got flying this year? Not overly excited about the F35 after seeing the F22 a few years back and most of the rest is same old same old.
Please can people come up with reasons to be excited, as currently something I've looked forward to for many years just seems boring. 😢

Hi Duffnut, Personally I like Farnborough as you never know whats going to turn up, although in these days of the internet that is becoming less and less a factor. So far upto 60 aircraft have confirmed as being present at Farn 2016 and there are still 2 manufacturer yet to confirm what they are bringing but they will attend. So in theory that should make about 70 frames on the ground. Added to that are the support aircraft that come with kit onboard, again some scope for some out of the ordinary aircraft, Pakistan C130 a few years back, aircraft on delivery are another highlight, Nigerian ? from memory, maritime ATR ? Air Seyscelles Twin Otter last time, rare as rocking horse Sh1t that one!! TAG operates through out the show so again scope for many unusual biz and mil Biz either attending the show or just movement into FAB....so all in all its horses for courses....There does seem to be some flak for Farnborough this year from the RIAT fraternity saying RIAT is far better, (no real fault of Farn after last years crash) having looked at whats appearing at RIAT this year it to me does seem all very samey samey, the stars of the show are only appearing due to Farnborough happening in the same time frame, F35,F22,F18 etc, strip out the civvie stuff and its a pretty lame show.(Greek F4s aside) If Farnborough ever stops being an airshow and becomes just a trade show, RIAT will lose out as well. Having said that I will attend both again this year :-)

Unfortunately Jeff is technically correct as all those manufacturers are now Boeing. I bought a DC3 T-shirt a while ago which has a Boeing label inside! It's a bit tenuous I know but I guess if they own the companies (by whatever route) they own the design rights and are the current custodians of the types in question. Doesn't sit right I know! Cheers Mark

Thanks Jeff, I can see where you're coming from but Ive not bothered going into the site since they shut the halls. I'll be in the pegasus enclosure a couple of days. (work allowing) But just disappointed in what we get to see flying. That's what planes do, and I like to see new and interesting things. It just seems like there is a lot of barrel scrapping going on. When 3 or 4 fast and exciting additions could make all the difference.

Had a look on flight aware so far there is nothing for 'omega10', it usually shows. Bangor Maine is where 'omega10' and 'roman11 flight' currently are.

USAF #F35 A to skip Farnborough air show because of "lack of hangar space" but will attend airtattoo Seems like a poor excuse to me !!! In reality, Jeff, the F-35A is only allowed to display as part of the USAF "Heritage Flight".
The 6 x F-35s now at Fairford are in the two U-2 hangars (B's in the right and A's in the left) and are very heavily guarded by USMC personnel - who are authorised to use (up to lethal) force to prevent unauthorised people getting within the F-35 demarcation zone. I would not wish to mess with those guys (and ladies) LOL. In view of this, I think you can appreciate that the excuse is not so poor after all.

Which makes me wonder how they are going to fly it in formation with the red arrows !! Will there be a P51 keeping an eye on the proceedings like a mother hen? .... Lol

F-18s and DC-10 due in on Sat around 3.30pm , seen this posted on pitonheads forum, can anyone confirm ? Somewhat later today (Friday), I would think. There is no NOTAM posted for Saturday, but there is one today
The ALTRV (Altitude Reservation NOTAM) will not allow them to cross 55N30W before 1519BST and it will take them 2.5 - 3 hours from there. Equally, the ALTRV will not permit them to pass waypoint RESNO (55N15W) after 18.29BST. So, I would guess arrival somewhere in the 1800 - 2000 slot and probably in the middle. But that is only my guess, so don't shoot the messenger!!!
