I can't remember the exact date but it was towards the beginning of this year that I paid a visit to my dear old Mum who told me that she had found a load of my old logs tucked away in a cardboard box that had lain in the bottom of a wardrobe for more years than I would like to think. They were in pretty good condition and it has been a labour of love entering all the details onto my spreadsheets. I finally entered the final show log today, for Brawdy in Pembrokeshire, which I attended on 21/05/81. They haven't been done in chronological order, but the order in which I have simply taken the books one-by-one from the box.
Looking at all the shows I attended, it seems it was pretty much all I did at weekends between the very early 70s and the early 80s, with a fair spattering of shows after those dates but on a less prolific basis. The places I went to was just staggering, I had show reports, mainly military, from.....
Colerne Greenham Yeovilton Duxford Boscombe Down Abingdon Biggin Hill Upper Heyford Kemble Finningley St Athan Middle Wallop Wattisham Alconbury Fairford Coningsby St Mawgan Binbrook Cosford Chivenor Goodwood Leuchars Portland Lee-on-Solent Netheravon Fleetlands Waddington Hurn Southend Benson Lyneham Cottesmore Bentwaters Valley Culdrose Brize Brawdy Marham Mildenhall
The final effect of entering all these old logs onto my database is that my RAF/AAC/RN logs have grown to about 3,400 frames. I haven't even counted all the USAF and foreign air force/navy/army frames but I do know that on my first trip to Upper Heyford I made something like 60 F-111s.
Good old Mum is in for an extra special Christmas present this year!

Well, despite the low cloud base, it lifted enough for me to complete my RAF A400s (to date) with ZM408 (details posted in the new Military Movements forum).
Cheers,

Went out on a trip on Saturday to the Old Warden Shuttleworth Collection, made 51 there - dropped just 5. Also visited Luton, Fairoaks, Farnborough and Blackbushe, must've made about 70-75 in the whole day I'd think. Made N792BG S92 at the docks yesterday (Sunday 18th), however PB has it as G-CJIF (what it's due to go to) already.

Couldn't get up to Biggin Hill for the French Air Force Puma or the Italian Air Force F900, but fortunately the French Air Force Xingu 086 passed overhead on departure as I was on the way to Waitrose.

I hit my biggest ever total this year. 2962 with 199 scrapes. A thousand up on last year Of my total 1486 were GA This is mainly down to the EAA at Oshkosh Mind you this would have increased considerably if I attended Sywell, Farnborough and Fairford
Oh and I made EI-FIS of Ryanair today
However next year will revert to norm!

Log of 2090 for the year to date, up from 2012 for the previous year but we fly from LGW to HKG on 30 Dec, and from HKG to SYD on 31st, so would like to think I might be closer to 2200 than 2100 by year end.

All great totals lads, I'm sitting on just over 3000 for the year and will probably add a few to that total if the skies remain clear. Have already made B787-8 N802AN inbound LHR this morning

Hopefully a few sunny days still to come for this year.

Frustrating day, within the last half hour 3 needed LHR departures have gone overhead at less than 5,000ft but all above the cloud-773s HZ-AK38 and 9K-AOC and 789 VN-A868, but all will be back!
A brief break earlier allowed me to make A6-EPN 773 out of BHX at FL330 trailing.
Well behind you guys with only 1,245 for the year, but apart from a non-spotting visit to Dubai which netted about 120, a very disappointing LAA at Sywell and a few visits to LTN, FAB and Fairoaks all my spotting has been from home so satisfied with that.

Caught up with one I missed yesterday, 9K-AOC went overhead on LHR departure but this time under the clouds. Was expecting to get HZ-AK38 also, was waiting for it on Dover departure but it went via Midhurst instead. A bonus, G-TUIJ 789 on a TUI Netherlands flight to CuraƧao.
Happy Christmas everyone!

I, too, made the C-17 05-5142.
Last time I made something on Christmas Day was far too many years ago when making a C-124 routing EPM (Epsom VOR) > BPK > Braintree for Mildenhall.
