A rare civilian static item is confirmed this week in the shape of an A-4N Skyhawk! Discovery Air Defence will be supplying an example from its fleet of jets for the static line up on Saturday and Sunday. Elsewhere confirmations come from a Piaggio R166C, deHavilland Chipmunk and Hawker Hunter from HHA based at RAF Scampton. The USAF Heritage Flight is updated with the announcement that P-51B 'Berlin Express' will now be taking part in the display alongside the USAF F-22! The aircraft is currently on its journey from Texas to the UK! See our Facebook page for a link to track the progress. Previously mentioned P-51D 'Frenesi' will no longer be flying the Heritage Flight. The Belgian Air Component confirms an additional static F-16AM Fighting Falcon for static display. The RAF adds more weight to the static park with another A400M Atlas C.1 and a second Tornado GR.4.
First A.4 Skyhawk appearance at RIAT/IAT since 1977. First appearance at a UK display since Waddington 2000.

Best update yet by miles, finally a Scooter for RIAT! Cheers Mark True as far as RIAT is concerned, Mark, but not for IAT. 1977 saw 3 Australian Navy A-4Gs along with a Sea King (now at Horsham) and an S-2E.
Cheers,
Bob

You just concentrate on your Mildenhall/Lakenheath trip! 😄
Seriously though that's a nice list, I wasn't going to shows back then, I did the first of my IATs in 83 with the last one at GC.
Hope the longish closures for the 4th of July break don't impact too much on your trip mate
Cheers Mark

As expected, a July 4th update included a few more USAF aircraft...
Today we can confirm the United States Air Force Europe will be performing a special 70th Anniversary flypast on all three days of #RIAT17!
The flypast will feature a number of European based aircraft; C-130J, KC-135R, F-15C, F-15E and F-16C! This is in addition to those already announced for the static display, these flypast aircraft will not be operating from Fairford.
You won't see a flying display as varied as this anywhere else.
Get your tickets before they sell out!
Nice, but I am a little disappointed- I was hoping for a B2 !

Supposedly, there will be a B-2 in static - rumour status at present, but thought to be extremely likely.
I'm rather interested in this post from Chris Pocock on FC:-
What surprises could those be?? A TU-2S (provided it is one of the two that I have not seen)?? A T-38??

Yes hoping this Ukrainian Su-27 rumour (Il-76, Su-27, Su-27UB) comes to something tomorrow...
Last Thursday update tomorrow- perhaps the last chance for a B2, C5, KC10.... addition?
But looking a great show nonetheless!

Well I am still hopeful. RIAT haven't stamped on this rumour like they immediately did with the Japanese F.15 rumour...
