Went off on a week's peaceful holiday and find that, 30 min down the road, a C-17 that I needed went over the house. Naturally, I was pointing the wrong way!! And it (01-0197) came into Europe again today!! This time I had only got back home from the holiday by 20 minutes, so saw it routing MERLY - REDFA - nearly OTT my house. Nice one!!!
A bit later the clouds were VERY kind to me - for once!! KC-135R 60-0367 routed SND - BENSU - BCN and hurtled through a convenient small patch of blue sky. About an hour after that, another wanted C-17A 96-0007 routed MAM - EXMOR and was visible through a patch of very thin cloud.

Had a bad night last night, so came down and switched on the computer. Glad I did!!
"PAT44" US Army C-37A 05-01944 (sometimes quoted as being FY97) [AE0405] SE-bound at FL410 routed NEKAP (S of STU) > direct XAMAB and into France. Visual at around 04.00. "RCH445" Charleston-based 437AW C-17A 00-0172 [AE0677] E-bound at FL330 routed MERLY > OTT CDF > WOTAN (S of Wotton-under-Edge) > direct REDFA. Visual at around 05.45.
Plus the five made at Yeovilton (see separate report) makes seven for the day. ....and takes me to 502 military for the year (and I didn't go to see the "Bush" or the Germans at Coningsby).

At last some blue sky! Clouded over by early afternoon, but not before I had made frames I-ADLO Air Dolomiti E190 heading for EXE (presumably for maintenance), N832AA 789 American out of CDG and a trio of Irish 738s, EI-FVS/T Norwegian and EI-GDN Ryanair. OE-LQI 319 easyJet inbound BRS was a scrape.

Good day all
I will be hopefully contributing a lot more to this forum in 2018.
Not much spotting due to family time and cloud over past few days
26-Dec Scr G-DMPI AGUSTA A109 11011 Castle Air Ltd overflew back of house heading towards Portsmouth Scr G-JZHG BOEING 737NG 28388 Jet2 YL-PSG BOEING 737NG 30743 Primera Air Nordic Coasting out east of SAM
27-Dec EI-FTI BOEING 737NG 44759 Ryanair In bound Gatwick
That's the lot and 2 of those are scrapes!
The big surprise was on the 26th when looking out the window A320 G-GATU was going over at 4,500ft (normally they are at 15,000ft over here), on diversion to Hurn from Gatwick due to a runway issue. I understand but its not confirmed that it was a fuel diversion.
Until the next time happy spotting.

Well, at least it wasn't 90433 (again) - which was the very first KC-10 that I ever saw (at Mildenhall Air Fete 30/05/82).
Didn't need today's C-17 00-0178 (or yesterday's 10-0220) either.

Airbus day today. 4 frames made, VP-BCB 320 Aeroflot and A7-ALO 350 and A7-API 380 both Qatar all LHR departures, plus A6-EUZ 380 Emirates heading for BHX. A late extra was G-JZBD 738 Jet2 inbound STN.

Made the Aeroflot A320 and the Qatar A380 on their way into LHR, and the Emirates A380 both to and from BHX. Also saw and needed the C17 00-0178, plus Cathay A350 B-LRR climbing out of LGW. That makes 2177 for the year to date, and total ever of 30,888.
