hi,
not a log, but a few visits afforded us via being a Observer in the Royal Observer Corps back in the early 60's, numerous visits to our local (me being in Newcastle under Lyme) RAF field Tern Hill, even had a hour flight about Wales ending with around the Wrekin, in a Beverley it was cold, draughty, it creaked, control wires humming... also had a open pass for a flight in a helicopter from there any weekday. A couple of visits to LAP courtesy of a officer working at the airport, one to the control tower, a second over to the maint. area, a visit onto a Britannia with a warning not to all go down the back at the same time! then into the staff canteen for tea. This when the aircraft plotting was still active, our post was upon top off a hill on the moorlands so traffic to/from Manchester and the 2 radio masts behind us was a sighting point for the RAF...a very happy and entertaining 7-8yrs, then the govt. chopped us...
regards, dave...
