What a great trip Bob. I have asked for permission to visit Lower Upham next week so hoping I will make most of what's there. I've visited Compton Abbas three times and always got round the hangars with an escort from the clubhouse. Always found them ultra friendly so I wonder why they gave you the "no no"? The micro hangar at Old Sarum has never been any different. They have a real attitude issue - a few trips ago I walked up to within 3-4 feet from the hangar threshold and was bellowed at by a bloke, not that I had any intention of walking inside anyway. Power trip I think by the hangar bloke. I told him I had no intention of entering the hangar and all he replied was "good". Tosser. On the other hand, I've always been given access to the large hangar when asked for. If you're around next Wed, I should be at Lower Upham for 9.30am

A great loss to the vintage aircraft restoration community. Bob
