I'm trying to find out more about the Vickers/Brooklands operated airfield at Pyrford, near Ripley, Surrey, a short distance west of Wisley.
I understand it was basically a Wellington repair site during WW2, and some late production Wellingtons were flown over and stored there having been assembled at Smiths Lawn airfield, presumably because they needed the room there to park the Warwicks which were being assembled. Trouble is I'm having little luck finding the exact location of th airfield; does anyone on here know anything about it?

I can remember a black hangar to the right of Lock Lane coming from the anchor pub. It would be near the edge of the golf course. A friend of mine who as a teenager living in Ripley thinks it was for storage as he didn't see any flying there despite being a keen spotter cycling to Fairoaks, Brooklands and Wisley regularly.

There were a number of Vickers dispersed sites in the area during the war and I suspect Lock Lane is one if, like Foxwarren which 'til recently housed the bus museum now at Brooklads Museum, it was just an isolated hangar.
