I had to travel down to Cornwall for two full days for work so made the most of it and called in at these two great fields.
First stop was Perranporth which I last visited about 18 months ago. The very friendly Polish manager has returned to his homeland and has been replaced by "Mick" who is equally as friendly. I asked for permission to go into the hangars which he granted. He did ask for ID and my car registration number as although it hasn't affected them here yet, they are well aware of the 912 engine thefts at other fields. Mick very kindly ran me down to the hangars where he had a quick word with the guys inside and left me to it.
Sometimes it pays to visit less often and I was delighted to make five frames here. A lot of Flexwings in residence since my last trip although most of these had relocated from Dunkeswell. There's also a beautiful 2/3rds scale Spitfire in the hangars which is finished and awaiting C of A.
G-BAEU - C150
G-CBZH - QUIK
G-COLS - RV7A
G-IEEF - X-AIR
G-MGFK - QUANTUM
Then onto Bodmin, one of the friendliest fields I've ever visited. I reported to the tower as usual and was given freedom to wander. The lower hangars were open and I was allowed inside those as well. I was just in time to see a new resident, a Pitts S-1S as the owner was closing the lock up doors. I made six here, chuffed to bits with that as I visit fairly often.
G-BTTY - KITFOX
G-CKPF - CITABRIA
G-EGLA - C172
G-OTEC - P2002
G-TWRL - PITTS S-1S in lock up hangar at right angles to the maintenance hangar
G-LANS - C182 sat there with a broken back, unlikely to be repaired
The large concrete hangar on your right as you enter the site was previously unused, it's now full of Flexwings but no one could find the key to open it up for me!!
So, two very worthwhile visits, ultra friendly and 11 pots into the bargain. Photos to follow
