This week saw the annual trip to Leeuwarden for the Fresian Flag exercise. This year’s participants were the USAF with 12 F15s from the Massachusetts and Oregon National Guards; 8 German Eurofighters; 7 Spanish F18s; 3 Polish Mig 29s and 5 F16s; 4 French Mirage 2000Ds and 9 Rafales; plus Dutch F16s from Volkel & Leeuwarden itself, 17 of which were noted on the 2 days we were there (but still short of my last one). 2 mass launches take place each day with around 50 jets in each wave. The good people of Aviation Group Leeuwarden as usual arranged car parking in the field near the mound for the very reasonable sum of 3 Euro per day. EasyJet from Luton to Schipol and an hour and a bit in the rental car up to the base, with time allowed for some viewing at Schipol itself. Just a few of the shots below to give a flavour. Nice one, Dave. Never been there - and I don't suppose I ever will now!!
Oregon ANG F-15C 85-0106 was at Lakenheath from 22/03/2018 until 11/04/2018, when 84-0021 arrived to take its place and is still there as of 19/04/2018. Both were/are hangared during their stay.
