Hi Graham,
They were all taken at Sheps Mound, the official spotting location. If you don’t have a car, it is very difficult to reach. I would guess you would need to use bus 309 towards Botany then have 45 minute walk? If you are going to Sydney, sign up for the YSSY forum website, and you might even be able to meet up / cadge a lift from one of them. The 2 I met were very friendly.

If you don't have a car the mound is a shorter walk from the Blue Emu long term car park for the airport. Blue Emu has a shuttle bus that runs from the terminals. If you have a look on Google Earth you can probably judge how far a walk it actually is.

..and if you go via the terminal and the car park, avoid the train into the airport. There is a premium price for alighting there. Instead go to Mascot station and get bus 400 into the airport.

Thanks for that info, I will have a car as we will be travelling west to Melbourne over a few days, or at least that's the plan. Then over to NZ for the Omaka Airshow and family visiting.

Then the good news is that car parking at Sheps Mound is free.
