On Tuesday, 12 June, 2018 I took advantage of a cheap Ryanair offer and decided to do a day trip to Marseille. I was hoping to see some bits and bobs outside the Airbus Helicopters section.
Getting up and travelling to Stansted at a god forsaken hour I took the 6.35am flight to Marseille on a rammed EI-EVE
Arrived around 90 minutes later, 30 minutes or so late and made my way through immigration.
I did a bit of research and read that you could walk round to the Airbus Helicopter facility. I turned right out of the terminal 1 as instructed, but found my access blocked round the permiter road. I could have wondered onto the busy dual carriage way and tried to access it that way, but it was some distance and bloody hot! Ho Hum and with my tail between my legs I returned to the comfort and Air Conditioned Terminal
As you look the Terminals from the outside the terminal on the far left which I think was Terminal 1 gives you views of the runway which ran left to right in front of you. One of the windows was behind Burger King and the other in the Domestic Terminal section. There are views airside but you don't really need to.
There were two terminal buildings in total, side by side, they were divided into Hall One and Hall two, although walking into the buildings I am sure there were three! Don’t Ask!
The airport was not that busy, perhaps a similar amount of movements to somewhere like Birmingham
There was a Cargo ramp and over the far side a bit of general Aviation along with a stored Mecure and Caravelle, researched to be F-BTTH Dassault Mercure 100 8 Air Inter
and F-GCVM Sud Aviation Caravelle 12 270 Air Provence International
F-AZVM Nord Noratlas 2501F 105 Association Le Noratlas De Provence landed in the afternoon and parked over there as well.
Other than that I was surprised to see a 777 of Air Austral which was there when I arrived and getting ready to depart to Port a Prince when I left.
There were a few Airbus Helis hovering and moving about throughout the day but I was unable to read them off. A couple were showing on Plane finder/FR24 as F-WWOG and F-WWON which I saw. However I am unable to pin them down to a line number. When we departed we passed the Airbus facility before lining up and there were about six or seven parked in the compound! All frustratingly unidentified
Parked up all day in the Cargo area to the right of the terminal where

Returned to Stansted on another rammed Ryanair, EI-DCF Which I had travelled on to Dublin in 2008.
The return flights only cost me about £20, In fact the fuel getting to Stansted and back probably cost me more.
But, Its another airport ticked off the list.
I should have researched the views to the Airbus Facility better. I think if I had hired a car I may have succeeded!
Still never mind
Regards Mick
