The good lady and I will be there, planning to arrive at around 0930 to have a good wander around the static then stake a spot for the flying display. Looks like being a very hot day (BBC Weather says 28c) so I'll be wearing denim shorts, a white t-shirt and a grey and black Chicago Bulls baseball cap. Hope to see some AFA-ers there.

Myself and the good lady hope to be there Graham, depends on a couple of things, firstly if we can persuade son/daughter to pop in and look after dogs for a while and of course England play Sweden @ 3pm,difficult choices to be made.

I'll be there with my 9 year old grandson - not a spotter but who know's.
A quick word for AFAers from me on directions - avoid the A303 at all costs. If your driving from the Frome area - take the A359 through Bruton and past the Haynes motor museum. At the T junction take a right then just before the junction/roundabout with the A303 and before McDonalds take a left. You're still on the A359 and follow this through Queen Camel - just past the church there is a small roundabout - take the second exit for Yeovilton - it'll probably be signposted anyway - this will take you to the Harrier/Hunter car park or whatever they choose to call it this year.
A word of warning - I always leave before the end as Yeovilton is a complete bugger to exit. Once out no problems. It usually means missing out on the grand finale but I'd rather do that than sit in 100 lanes of traffic all trying to get through the single farmers gate.
If you're driving from London - then I would highly recommend taking a left off the A303 at the Macdonalds roundabout and follow the directions as above.
Hope to catch up with some of you guys
Cheers
Keith

I'm avoiding the crowds and going as usual to the arrivals day area on the base on Friday. Anyone else?

After last night - I think I'd rather be with planes. Why is watching England always so bloody painful???

After last night - I think I'd rather be with planes. Why is watching England always so bloody painful??? Largely because in 2 hours of football against Colombia England managed just 2 shots on target neither of which caused Ospina to break sweat. Yes, Kane is the leading tournament scorer but only thanks to two penalties in actual playing time. If they cant finish better (or at all) then my money is on Sweden. Watching Brentford can be painful but at least they have a vague idea of where the goal is and that the whole purpose is actually to stick the ball in it.

I tend to agree with you Dave.
I'm very uncomfortable about our next match with Sweden and if we do blow it - then I'd rather it be when I'm surrounded by planes which I love at Yeovilton. My first visit was in 1970 and I'll never forget the line up of Phantoms and Sea Vixens with a few Sea Venoms thrown into the mix!
A couple of pints of local cider in the morning might help me cope with whatever the football throws at us in the afternoon!!

Yes Keith, that was the only thing to spoil it last year, 90 minutes to get out and the so-called traffic marshalls were worse than useless. I have to say when we drove there last year, we got to the Sparkford roundabout where the dual A303 goes uphill to Yeovilton and we were only delayed for a few minutes.
