Have just returned from a Road Trip to the Italian Lakes (Lake Como)
We took the ferry to Calais on 1st July and travelled through France, into Switzerland and Italy.
Stayed in Lake Como for a week before traveling back through Austria, Germany Belgium and France.
Unfortunately it was a non spotting family holiday although I did manage to log a few here and there.
First opportunity was Basle Mulhouse where we stopped for a couple of days. Took the tram and bus from Basel city centre where we were staying.
Strange thing is the airport is actually just over the Swiss border in France
However on Wednesday 4 July the following of note where logged
From a sweaty 15 minute walk towards the maintenance and GA area the following executive where noted.
5A-UAA Bombardier Challenger 320175 Government of Libya
9H-SRT Bombardier Global Expre9274 Emperor Aviation
HZ-ATG Bombardier Challenger 65899Elite Executive Services
N920KM Gulfstream Aerospace GI1289 Sun Air Jets
TR-CHB Dassault Falcon 50 155 Gaetair SARL
V5-PJM Gulfstream Aerospace GI341 Corporate
From the terminal where views are possible landside, I was surprised to see
HB-IRJ Douglas DC-3 A 2204 Super Constellation Flyers among the usual Easy Jet and Charter stuff
On the opposite side of the Airfield there were a number of bits and pieces, however the only thing I managed to ID was S5-ABW Airbus A300 B4-605RF 532 of Solinair.
A walk to the cargo area found the usual Fed Ex and DHL and of interest was
EI-SOA Avions de Transport Reg265 ASL Airlines Ireland
Whilst walking towards the Swiss maintenance hangers I saw a stored Vickers Viking in Swiss colour scheme
(Later identified thanks to Mr Google as G-AIVG Vickers Viking 610/1B 220)
So on with our travels on 5th July and purely by accident (honestly Guvnor! ) the road in Switzerland among the mountains, took us past Samedan/St. Moritz airfield.
Mrs agreed to stop for a leg stretch as the following where noted
D-EAHI Piper PA-28R T-201 Arro28R-791822Private
HB-JUF Gulfstream Aerospace G66118 Swiss Jet AG
HB-ZLG Eurocopter Squirrel AS34982 Swiss Helicopter
HB-ZRX AgustaWestland AW.109 S22206 Swiss Air Ambulance AG
M-ATEX Dassault Falcon 8X 421 Maritime Investment & Ship
On with our travels and into Italy. Had arranged to meet my son and his wife at Milan Linate on Saturday, 7 July. I thought this would give a further spotting opportunity however I was to be disappointed as unfortunately nothing could be seen landside.
The following where seen from the perimeter
Stored Yak 40 EL-CAR of Lorenzo Construction
and
T7-BRE Bombardier Challenger 65373 ACASS Canada
We stayed in Varenna on Lake Como and there were a number of sea planes and helicopters buzzing about including
I-PVLC Cessna 172 N Skyhawk 17272343 Private
I-SAAB Cessna 172 N Skyhawk 17269026 Private
also noted
I-AHTD Airbus Helicopters H14520155 Babcock MCS Italia
I-HECO AgustaWestland AW.139 41510 Babcock MCS Italia
On our was back we stayed in Heidelberg and on 17th July
Seen buzzing above was D-EWPG Robin R.3000 160
and flying into Speyer
G-OFOM BAe 146 100 E1144 Formula One Management
Then onto our last stop on Wednesday, 18 July our hotel was next to Kortrijk/Wevelgem in Belgium.
Be rude not to pop in to the cafe next to the control tower
Here the following were logged
G-CIWO Airbus Helicopters Squi8191 R & J Helicopters
Wevelgem by Mick Childs, on Flickr
N26236 Grumman American AA-5A AA5A-0475 Private
OO-FBI Robin DR.400 120 Petit 2036 Private (Circuit bashing)
OO-NEY Embraer Legacy 450 55010003 Air Service Liege NV
Wevelgem by Mick Childs, on Flickr
OO-STD Robinson R44 Raven 2019 STB Copter
OO-VFR Piper PA-28 181 Archer 2890200 Private
OO-WAL/Cessna 182 R Skylane 18268083 Private
All in all not bad for a non spotting holiday.
Caught loads OTT during our time away, but I wont bore you with them (mostly gap fillers)
Logs thanks to ADU
Regards Mick
