Was passing by here on my way back from Mildenhall and saw quite a few old aircraft (e.g Austers and yellow Tiger Moths/Stampes) out on the field.
As I didn't stop, the only one I had time to see the registration of (from the A4421 ring road) was the bright red G-AEDU DH90A Dragonfly.
Not being civilian oriented myself, I just thought someone might be interested.

Thanks Bob, despite it being relatively nearby it's a field I've never visited despite working in and around Oxford frequently. Is there anywhere to park safely on the ring road at all from where there's a decent view of the field? Thanks

Hi Graham,
Never really paid much attention myself, but others will be able to give you more definite information.
However, I believe there is an entrance/gate on the ring road where there is a big banner advertising learning to fly a glider. This is not long before the final roundabout where the A4421 turns right for Finmere. You can't fail to see the hangars.
The airfield is situated to the N of the town.

Hi Graham,
Bicester's a nice place. Last called in on the way to Turweston for the Grand Prix helicopters a few weeks ago. The entrance is as described above, just drive through the gates and the office is on the left. Very friendly reception, permission readily given to walk round, just sign the visitors book. There were 20 odd in the large hanger which is to the rear of the office. We then asked if we could drive to the far side of the field where the gliders were launching and this was also allowed. All told, we logged about 50, so well worth a visit.

I agree with Wilbur. When I went last there was a security man on the gate and I just said that I was going to the gliding club and he waved me through.
