Those of us who are on Fighter Control site will have noticed an attempt to get a group together for a base visit at Lakenheath, and importantly looking for a grouping title, as FC are unlikely to agree to its name being used. Could AFA offer to become the grouping (and perhaps gain a few more members in the process) and see some of our existing members gain valuable access?

FC will not be interested in their name being used because of one of their rules:-
11 - Under NO circumstances is the Fighter Control name to be used to gain access or attempt to gain access to any show, airfield or airport establishment without the permission of an FC Admin. Failure to do this will result in an instant ban no questions asked.
Basically, that is because they do not want any potential comeback that might force the forum to close should anything untoward happen.
----------------
The way I read the relevant post on FC (in www.fightercontrol.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=49&t=166063) is that having a group name is a requirement from Lakenheath. For example, there is a group of (mostly) FC members who call themselves the "Grim Reapers Supporters" - after the name of the 493FS.
Just a word of warning. Remember that it is Lakenheath that will specify the date - and that it will be mid-week. So, to allow for drop-outs due to unavailability, a very healthy standby list would be necessary to ensure that the minimum number is maintained - and that their details will have been previously communicated to Lakenheath for security checks, etc. The tour is usually in the morning and starts around 08.30 - 09.00.
Opportunities to photograph the based aircraft will be very limited. There will be no access to flightlines and, with the exception of the maintenance hangar, there are no hangars. All based aircraft are housed in individual HAS. If any static aircraft are provided for photography, it is likely to be only one positioned outside its HAS. If the control tower is included in the tour, it is possible that photography of movements will be allowed from that vantage point, though they are entitled to forbid snapping of any individual movement. Photography of the Peace Garden aircraft is permitted.
