A busy day at home yesterday, weather wasn't up to much so did a bit of cooking. Bill texted me about the 2 x C-21s, one of which I needed, but got tied up in the kitchen and totally forgot about them. The day was saved though by the C-17 that went across trailing a few minutes later 02-1109

Eight RCH flights today - and I couldn't even make one of them. Three were Eastbound C-17As and Westbound were four C-17As and a C-5M, plus "ROMA91" KC-135R up TR1 into MIldenhall that I didn't need.
Think I must have seen too many of the damn things!! LOL.

A quick drop in to say see you all in a couple of weeks as the good lady and I fly out to Crete early tomorrow morning. Jeff is still sunning himself in Rhodes so you are in the more than capable hands of Bill, Bob & Mark.
The previous two trips to the island in 2013 and 2015 have been pot fests so hoping for the same this year, more with the OTTs than the regular European stuff that goes to Kazantzakis.

Likely to be my only one today was 658 Sqdn (i.e. SAS) Dauphin ZJ785 routing SSE over Sells Green (just East of Melksham) in the approximate direction of Bournemouth. It was also my 2nd pot of the month (B-52 at Fairford being the other)..
Made a nice change as they mostly do not plot (in the right places anyway).

Cloudy early, gaps were not kind as I missed 85-0032 KC-10A, saw the trail but not the aircraft!
Cleared quickly but not much of interest in daylight, N578UP 744F UPS and C-FPIJ 763F CargoJet were scrapes. But picked up after dark, N43R CL.604 outbound FAB was a frame and no less than 4 needed LHR departures due in the next hour, B-1543 789 Hainan, B-1282 773 Air China, A7-AME 350 Qatar and VP-BAV 321 Aeroflot.
(Edit) Yes, made all 4 on departure, plus 9H-AUL 733F scrape.

for that KC-135. Wretched thing was at non-trailing FL340 instead of their usual FL360-FL380. Had no chance of seeing it looking into the sun and haze (and I don't need that many either).
Had to make do with Apache ZJ227 today instead.

Nothing of interest in LHR today (except for the new 788 G-ZBJK which came in on the BA248 from Rio but was above the cloud as it left the Ockham hold), but made 3 OTT, 2-TRAV Gulf550 which I think went to BQH (Biggin), A6-DDC 77F Etihad (my last one) heading for FRA and HZ-SKY2 330 inbound STN.
