Heavy rain first thing this morning followed by low cloud for the rest of daylight - cloudbase 700ft. Not a lot going on.
The day wasn't a total loss as I popped down to Cambridge to net a rather slack Swedish Herc coming in for maintenance. There is another one there that I need, but there was no sign of it (nor the two Bahrein C-130Js).
Mildenhall Arrivals 10.41BST "CNV6326" 166693 C-40 VR-57(?) 15.31BST "CNV6384" 163591/RU KC-130T VR-55

Not a lot happened. The mist cleared rather late today - around 11.00 - which caused the AFRC C-5M "RCH557" 87-0041 to divert to Ramstein. It also caused me to miss a much needed Travis C-5M.

Lakenheath "RAPTOR11/12" F-22As (08-4162 and 09-4183) visited Norway(?) today and returned separately. "RAPTOR01/02" (09-4173 and 09-4181) cancelled their day trip to Italy "TARBOX11-14" F-18s (166624/102, 166823/303 and 166840/412) departed for Oslo - presumably for good. EDIT:- Apparently only 3 departed. 10x F-15s made up the morning activity - nothing in the afternoon

That's it. After a lovely white frost overnight, we packed up and departed, making it back in in a very good time of 4 hours. Naturally, something I needed came in after I had left (USN C-26D 900528)!!
To add to my annoyance, the caravan battery has died, so I had to get the caravan back into its storage space by car and not by motor mover. Also, the drill battery has died, so had to wind the legs down by hand!!
Up until we left:-
Monday 29th October 2018
Mildenhall Arrivals 07.41z "HKY711" 07-8614/RS C-130J 37AS 09.53z "DUKE41" 84-00162 C-12U E/1-214AVN.........ILS approach 10.20z "DUKE94" 84-00156 C-12U E/1-214AVN.........after land, roll and take-off at 10.00z
Departure 08.38z "HKY711" 07-8614/RS
The total of 76 for the shorter visit was rather pleasing. It is difficult to say what stood out - there was so much that was good.
Anyway, that is it caravanning for the year. Until next April, any further visits come under the heading of "emergency" - possibly one sooner rather than later (awaiting details) - and we stay in the Travelodge. Back to OTTs again.
