When I started in 1968 aged 12 Dylan, the height of cutting edge spotter kit was a five quid converter that you strapped to a regular radio with an elastic band and tuned it into a blank frequency to hear ground/air/ground broadcasts. If you were really flush, you could buy a proper airband radio but even with that, none of the airlines gave out registrations. We used to make a note of the callsigns of OTT's and then call the Airlines' desks to hopefully be told what the registrations were. How times change. I have a similar set up to Bill albeit with the help of Plane Plotter mobile and PlaneBase where I build a SQB file using PlaneBase and then copy and paste it to PlanePlotter mobile so it only shows what I need on the screen. Like Bill says, it really focuses it all for me and prevents needed frames from disappearing into the usual on screen clutter. Nic Storey writes the programmes for both PlaneBase and PlanePlotter so they are 100% compatible with each other. This is what my phone screen looks like without all the clutter, just shows what I need... Screenshot_20190227-081738_PPm by Graham Brown, on Flickr

Evening guys,
Well it’s the end of February and I’ve now closed my log for the month. So just to finish off...
27th. N581JN MD-11F Western Global SP-RSB B737 Ryanair TC-LJO B777F Turkish OO-MAX B737Max8 Tui N814RR Gulf 550 D-AIZE A320 Lufthansa (Big Gap Filler) TC-LCF B737Max8 Turkish OE-ICP A320 Easyjet CS-DOL Ce525 UR-GOA B777 Ukraine Intl UR-PSW B737 Ukraine Intl CS-DLK Falcon 2000 A6-FNC B737Max9 Fly Dubai ZJ227 Apache AAC G-ARDZ Jodel N650EH Gulf 650 EC-IZY A340-6 Iberia 9A-JIP Ce525
So, the last four days with great weather, and the new piece of kit, were extremely successful (for me). However, I got out of bed this morning and, as forecasted, there was thick cloud outside - so today’s result just goes to prove no matter how good the tools you employ are - they are just about useless if you don’t have the weather...
28th. G-DAYR CL605
February for me has been quite disappointing, 104 new frames and 79 scrapes, year to date 197 new frames and 128 scrapes.
Mustn’t grumble but I’m really looking forward to our first visit, for the year, to Toulouse next week. Should make a few... Hopefully!!
Cheers lads.
Bill
