Sad indeed, I know little about such things but surely, the show is there anyway so what harm is there is having a public day, and how can it lose money if everyone is paying for the privilege?

The last couple of displays at least I can remember complaints that the trade show aircraft had gone by the weekend leaving not much to see apart from the display aircraft that have to be paid for. I always try to get there on the Tuesday or Wednesday during the week. Also the restrictions now in place mean you cannot do much in such a built up area.
Just a few thoughts

Let's hope that the powers-that-be still allow Pegasus members to use the compound during validation week.

There was a lot of social media out cry after the last show, why can't the Red arrows display, why can't we have lots of fast jets roaring around the skies, why can't I go on the army land anymore like I have done for the last 80 years etc etc etc, Ive given up trying to explain CAP403 hugely increased insurance cover for display aircraft, elf and safety and all the other factors involved in this decision. But the most ironic thing is all the local people on these social media sites that were moaning about how sh1t the show was last year are the same ones moaning cos there won't be one next year. Nothing as queer as folk as the saying goes
Ti's a shame though

Nothing as queer as folk as the saying goes Ti's a shame though I must declare an interest here but in my personal opinion, the flying displays have been rubbish since I stopped writing the display programme after the 2004 show when Farnborough International insisted on one of their own employees doing it instead. He left large 'gaps' in the display and refused all my advice about timings.(I'd only done it for 15 displays over the previous 30 years so what did I know about it?)
