Graham , Not heard of such on a 727 BUT a few years back there as a fad for jets with 'props' . Even a DC9 at that years Farnborough show ! I think it did not catch on . ( Sorry but I use DC9 rather than MD what not - just shows One's age !!) . Chrisj

MD 81 N980DC had one of it's engines substituted for a prop-jet and was at the 1988 Farnborough air show. It was exhibited at that show as the MD-81 UDF. Some years later at another Farnborough show I remember a similar exercise being done on IL-76 RA-76529.

Ah , the old grey cells are slowly turning !! Not dug out a photo but were the props on the front of the IL76 engines rather than the rear as the 727 and DC/MD ? Chrisj

I seem to remember a prop powered 1/11 at Farnborough, maybe 1990?, was it marketed by Dee Howard?

N650DH appeared at the show with a Tay650 attached which I think was a turbo fan
