Those of us who go to Lakenheath are well aware of "the field" accessed from the A1065 via a turn-in opposite the base golf course. It is used, of course, to see aircraft on the visitors (Charlie) ramp.
That field is now out of bounds owing to nesting by a protected species (Stone Curlews).
Signs will be erected very shortly.
Whether this is co-incidental I do not know, but (apparently) the farmer got a mouthful recently from some so-called "spotters".

Hi Bob Yes this is unfortunate news. If visiting aircraft are parked up, can they be seen from anywhere else, eg. the heathland to the west of the field? Considering another brief visit this week if the “MO” F.15s don’t depart too soon.
Cheers Phil

Hi Phil,
Maidscross Hill, i.e. the Warren, is all that is really left.
Turn up Wings Road opposite the Post Office in Lakenheath village. There is a parking area at the top (for the nature reserve?). You are then up near where the old Tower used to be. You get a good view across the base, but I don't know whether you can see much of the visitors ramp.
Please bear in mind that I haven't been up on the Warren for over 35 years - when visitors parked right by the old Tower - so my memory of the view from there is very faded.
Cheers,
Bob
PS:- It is being said that the 1st lot of MOs are due out tomorrow at 13.00. Wait for the NOTAM and see for confirmation. Would guess they will then be on consecutive days - assuming that we get the 3rd lot tomorrow as is rumoured.

Thanks Bob. 3 of us slept in our car on the Warren about 20years ago- I don’t think I’ve been up there since either! Unfortunately I can’t make it tomorrow, so will have to have see what is left and whether it is worth it.
Many thanks Phil
