Hi all, my old card reader, which had given me five years sterling service gave up the ghost a couple of weeks ago, I chucked it away but forgot to note the make of it. I bought a replacement on Ebay which broke within five seconds, the slot for the card was very sloppy which resulted in several of the pins inside the reader bending over, rendering it useless.
What do you folks use please? I'd rather pay a decent price than something for a fiver that breaks right away.

For a number of years I've used a SanDisk MobileMate SD+ Memory Card Reader which has served me very well. Not sure if they still make them though as I've had this for quite a while. Good make though and also mainly use their memory cards as well. Dave

Just for info, and a heads up, this is the crappy one I bought which broke first time of using. The CF slot is very sloppy, meaning you have to wiggle the card to get it to connect properly, which promptly bent over two of the pins inside the reader, rendering it useless. The vendors are useless too, for the sake of eight quid, they refuse to replace it saying I must have broken it. Fortunately, Ebay will refund me and take it up with the vendors. www.ebay.co.uk/itm/323742165320

Hi Graham. A slight thread drift here but I thought I'd mention it anyway - a mate of mine (or at least I thought he was!) - recommended a Power Bank for my iPhone which he picked up for a quid from Poundland (no surprise there). Anyhow, I decided to get one and I charged it up and tested connectivity with my phone at home. No problem at all and the phone took the charge. I was in London Saturday for the flypast which provided a good excuse to meet some mates for a few beers and sure enough, by mid afternoon, it was time to use the Power Bank. I couldn't plug the bloody thing back into my phone and yes the connector was the right way up! Whatever I did in a boozy haze has completely knackered my mobile and I'll be getting a new phone tomorrow. I suppose the lesson is that buying cheap is a false economy!! Cheers. Keith
