we were having a discussion about G-VZIG at work yesterday ( I presume a reference to David Bowie's Ziggy Stardust) and we couldn't help but wonder about the name - the song is Jean Genie so shouldn't the name have been Dream Genie - not Dream Jeannie? !! Dont think Virgin will change it though

Could be a reference to the bar owner in a little desert town in Carry on Follow that Camel. Reference to the electrical distribution panels used in caravans. Dream Jeannie may be reference to an old song' I dream of Jeannie with the light brown hair'

I'm a big fan of Bowie Jeff but Ziggy Stardust isn't mentioned in the lyrics of the song "Jean Genie". Pretty sure that the only mention of "Ziggy Stardust" as a lyric is in the actual track "Ziggy Stardust" on the "Rise & Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars" album from 1972

That leaves the question, what connection is ZIG to dream jeanie? All VS aircraft names are associated with the reg in some way or another, .... So far !!!
Although i must admit some are more vague that others.... Lol

Maybe one of V's top brass was under the mis-apprehension that there were Ziggy lyrics in the song Jean Genie?
