A post on FC has it that Fairford is going to see U-2s permanently based........it could possibly be true. We shall see.
Be that as it may, two U-2s arrived from the East today - 80-1067 and 80-1071 - which, in itself, is unusual, as the Eastbounds arrive before the Westbounds when there is a rotation.

International security may kick in at some point - in which case perhaps we should guarded!

Indeed, Keith.
OpSec very definitely rules - which is why I was careful to reference that it was already posted on FC (some hours before).

"DRAGON01" 80-1083 flew a sortie for a PD at Mildenhall (yay!!) and returned to Fairford.
"DRAGON02" 80-1083 flew some late afternoon circuits - may have done a PD at Brize Norton.

Quick not.
Having been at Bedford for 5 years receiving the U-2's (TR-1's when we got them),when they do a PD or training (which would be required in crosswinds),they always do a go around as their diversion airfield would generally NOT have the full team present i.e The talkdown car and Pogo's. When we had up to 3 in the circuit the Chase car sat in a layby half way between Alconbury and Bedford listening on the radio.
I would imagine they will need a Set preferred diversion airfield, with some plan.

"DRAGON81" has departed, flight planned to KBAB [Beale], not yet confirmed which airframe.
I'd imagine a replacement will arrive in the near future.
