On 3 March 1974 British Airways staff were on strike, so Turkish Airlines DC10 service from Paris to London was full with transferred passengers, including my good friend and family. They never arrived as the DC10 crashed after take off. R.I.P.

I was at Heathrow that day and to see the faces of relatives etc as the news broke in the terminal was heart rending. There is a poignant memorial in the forest at Ermenonville near Paris where it crashed.

I seem to recall the cargo door opened in flight. I went to Paris some time after when the DC10’s were grounded and they were parked everywhere, UTA etc. Horrific accident.
