With FlyBe accounting for approximately 95% of SOU airline departures during 2019, their demise has left a chasm in Southampton and the wider south. For years SOU looked on Bournemouth as the poor relation, but is now hamstrung by runway length restrictions for other Uk airlines to fill FlyBe’s shoes. Loganair’s interest in the Scottish and some north U.K. routes may see Embraers back in Southampton airspace, but the current vision for the airport looks very poor indeed.
Perhaps a little more welcome to GA in the interim would be a partial solution...

To think that Grant Shapps was telling us all in mid January that "we believe in connecting our regions and nations so following three days of cross government discussion with Flybe CEO Mark Anderson and others, I'm delighted that Europe's largest regional airline will continue to help connect the whole of the UK for years to come".
