Yes Jeff , we seem to be about 6-8 weeks behind China and 4 weeks or so behind Italy as far as the virus is concerned. No doubt things will get worse here before they start to improve but the warmer weather which ( hopefully) should arrive in April and May will help too.

Yes what irony that today ATC is expecting to work Air China, China Eastern and China Southern ,for the first time all on the same day for weeks !!! All we have to do now is to get them to improve their B***dy eating habits thanks China

Fingers crossed, the main difference of course is that China went into almost immediate lock down as indeed Italy has now done, whereas we are all strolling around without a care in the world. But judging by all the f***wits piling their shopping trolleys up here at all three supermarkets in town yesterday, Armageddon appears to be on its way.

Re the shopping situation, I've found that the smaller shops ie not the large chains seem to be fully stocked with all the things everybody else is panic buying

That's very true Jeff, we have a SPAR and a Tesco Express just around the corner and they seem to be well stocked with most items.

From Elstree
Although the aerodrome is operating normally It is with regret that we have decided to stop all non-essential airside activity (spotting & photography). You are still more than welcome to visit and watch the aircraft from the grass mound, car park area and the outside seating/benches are availble so long as sensible social spacing is observed.
Also due to new government guidelines the cafe has now had to close and will remained closed until government advice changes.
We thank you for your understanding during these difficult days and hope you all keep safe and well.
