Just seen on the LAASi and Popham site that this years Microlight Trade Fair has been cancelled until 2021- one of no doubt many others to be cancelled this year. AM

Thanks AM, yes, the financial ramifications from this virus will far and away outweigh any medical ones. The good lady and I have a day off on Friday and are hoping to visit the Haynes Motor Museum at Sparkford but whether it will be open remains to be seen. A friend here in Devizes owns a pub, he's OK at present but folk are being told to avoid pubs, bars, restaurants, markets, theatres and so on. If the government insists that he closes, along with the other boozers here in town, plus the independently owned shops, a lot of people are going to find their livelihoods up in smoke very quickly.

In addition lots of people are losing holidays- as a result of this virus-a good friend of mine was due to fly to Vegas next month to get married, but lucky escape or not he has had to cancel- and reschedule it in the future. It is worrying times but we have to deal with it- and have to make certain sacrifices- sport has gone for the foreseeable future, as does lots of aviation events. I agree that if they force some publicans to close pubs it could be the end for them. Looks like we will have to start all over again in 2021. It will be interesting to see the state of the world- when this finally bottoms out.

Well, we're due to go to Rhodes for two weeks in September, we had to cancel last year's trip to Greece because one of our spaniels was convalescing from an operation so to miss out this year too would be a blow.

Message now on the Popham website that the airfield is closed until further notice. See also on the ATC webcam pic.
