Another sad day in aviation, I think there will be some seriously worried managers at LGW at the moment, what with Flybe, Probably BA and now VS, that's an awful lot of capacity to try to re-coup at the best of times..

Interesting to note that the LGW slots are to be retained, so it's not quite the end of VS LGW ops just yet, it's merely on hold 👍

I wondered about that, my understanding was that slots were issued on a "use it or lose it " basis, on Airliners.Net they were saying that to overcome this, VS have already lined up another carrier to lease the slots to in the interim period, but we will see....

Use it or lose it slot provision suspended at the moment, otherwise almost everyone would lose most if not all of their slots. Current suspension is I think only until 30 June but will almost certainly need to be extended.

Ah ok, because at the beginning of all this, were the airlines not flying almost empty for fear of losing their slots if they did not use them ?, i guess that's why the suspension was brought in....

A332s will also be retired in 21/22, whether I will still be with the airline at that point is not know at the moment, time will tell I guess 🤞

Virgin G-VROY has just left Heathrow en-route to Glasgow. Looks like the last of their 747s is heading for storage, if not eventual scrapping.
