Why cannot the papers state when they are using library pictures rather than one that directly relates to the story? In today’s Daily Mail there is a picture of ZZ336 with 2 F35s, but the story refers to QRA scrambled from Lossiemouth (which would be Typhoons.) So simple to get right, but so annoying for those in the know.

I completely agree RR. I've said this many times before on various forums that there are so many inaccuracies in aviation related articles in the national press that only those in the know can spot. What concerns me is that if they can get even basic stories about aviation news so totally wrong, what about the accuracy of all the other stories where we are not the experts on the subject matter! Cheers Keith

May I add my tuppence worth please ? ( That's old money for the under 60s ! Light hearted ) Anyway , one of the things that gets me with these media types is that they think aircraft only operate on runways ! Even when they show an aircraft on a taxi way or some parking area ( Pan , Apron what ever ) , it is always referred to as being on the runway ! One wonders about the accuracy of the rest of the 'news' . Ah ! That's better ! Today's moan gone .

Bill or Jeff sent me a picture via WhatsApp a couple of days ago of a book pertaining to be about World War 11 which amongst others, had an A-10 Warthog on the front cover.

Just imagine how much shorter WW2 would have been if the allies had had A10s!

AND , today we have the news that BA are to get rid of all 747s ! Pity, but surly Sky news, as shown on MSN home page , could of found a 747 pic rather than tails of 777s and the like !! Chrisj

The BBC website has reported the BA 747 retirement reasonably well. However, for me, the final sentence of their piece spoils it for me:-
"Those that are scrapped can end up in giant aircraft graveyards in the desert where they are left to rust." !

So the BBC is proved incompetent as well as biased!
