Last night a Soyuz spacecraft was launched from Baikonur, around 5 and a half hours later it docked with the International Space Station. The three crew are cosmonauts Gennady Padalka, Mikhail Korniyenko and astronaut Scott Kelly. The latter two will be staying on the station for one year, which upon completion will be the longest continuous stay aboard the ISS (there were longer stays on the older Mir station, however). The objective is to explore the long term effects that microgravity has on the human body Photo of launch courtesy of NASA Expedition 43 Launch (201503280001HQ) by NASA HQ PHOTO, on Flickr
