Thanks for joining us here at AFA, we pride ourselves on the friendliness of the forum and politely ask that you respect that friendliness.
We don't have many rules but please refrain from...
1. Personal attacks - if there's something you don't agree with then please outline your issue with one of the admin team. Please don't slug it out on open forum.
2. Posting spam - if you want to advertise or post links to websites featuring gambling, adult content or online selling sites, then this isn't the group for you, you will be removed from the group and permanently banned
3. Any posts containing bad language, racism, sexism, homophobia or anything else of an unsavoury nature will be removed and the member removed and permanently banned.
There's a section towards the bottom of the forum where you can talk about whatever you like as long as you remain within the confines of Rule 3 above.
And that's it, we hope you enjoy your time on the forum and thank you

Once again I have to comment on how good it is on this forum. Any factual errors are corrected in a polite and friendly and helpful manner. Contrast this with Facebook, where I have just spent ages responding to ill informed comments. You will gather from my handle that I am a rugby ref (and referee assessor) and yesterday’s game between Wales and England produced huge controversy, mainly with those who think they don’t need to read the law book!

hi, fully agree, i've been on a couple of forums and woe betide you if a comma or hyphen is used wrongly, so i hardly use them now... Regarding the refereeing how can you see everything thats happening with 15 plus heavies all piling in? and the assessor bit, i used to go football up till last March, and if i could see a foul from he back of the stand, and the liner and ref were standing within a couple of yards, and didn't give it, do they get marked on their performance?
stay safe, regards, dave...

Rugby assessing is quite different from football. In rugby, at the lower levels, the role is more about advising and guiding to encourage improvement. Missing the odd offence is inevitable and is not a major issue; it is only when you get to the senior amateur levels where you switch to pure assessing and determining whether the ref is good enough to continue up the ladder. Clubs in both sports do mark the ref, but these marks are less important than the official assessments.

Thanks Dave and Phil for your kind comments, I too have posted on other aviation forums and been flamed for "posting incorrect information" by people who I can only think of as complete bloody anoraks who patrol said forums just looking for an opportunity to correct someone and show how "clever" they are.
I remember some time ago, someone asked on a forum I frequented if anyone could provide the serials for some USAF F4s that were present at a show decades ago. I had attended that show so used PlaneBase to pull up the log. I posted the half dozen or so serial numbers and was almost immediately flamed because I'd got the model numbers wrong. Of course, PlaneBase will list the planes involved in their last known incarnation so by the 1980s, many F4's had undergone conversions and bore different model types from when they initially entered service.
Unfortunately, these types patrol many forums, view them as their "own property" which only really serves to deter other people from posting because they are too frightened to be on the receiving end of an attack from some half blind onanist who does sfa other than scour his PC for such opportunities.
It was always our intention to make AFA a friendly place to be, where there would never be anything that was deemed to be a stupid question. We may not be the biggest, but I think that the collective knowledge, friendliness and politeness on this forum is second to none and I for one have learned more on here during its six year existence that I could have gleaned from any book.
