Infinitely more interesting day for 2016....
Todays activities involved several AFA members, all of whom will recall the events of the day. Those involved were; John (Jargon), Deano (ITFC), Kevin, Sean (Osprey 65) and Malc (WardairMalc).
It was a day we’re not likely to forget simply because Malc decided to charter a Beech 200 (G-JASS) to fly us from Lydd to Lelystad in Holland. Why Lelystad? Well, apart from the tremendous aircraft museum located there, they also had (Or did) a flyable Catalina which, at the time, offered rides which Malc and I had booked a few months earlier.
So the day started with the early morning drive to Lydd where, with a car full of spotters, plenty of “trail at 10 o’clock” shouts were being made throughout the trip.... So with the aid of FR24 (and the like) the following were seen. This includes the return trip.
LX-GCL B747F Cargolux
OY-SWO Falcon 2000
YL-LCQ A321 Thomas Cook (RIP)
At Lydd, and prior to our pre-flight, the following were logged.
G-AZCP Pup 100
G-BYCA Pa-28 Cherokee D
G-CDJV Bonanza A36
G-EPYW Pa-28 Archer
G-FABA Pa-31 Navajo
G-JASS Beech 200 (our chariot)
G-OETV Pa-31 Navajo
G-SRWN Pa-28 Warrior
G-STHA Pa-31 Navajo
G-TECT Tecnam P2006T
N182GC Cessna 182
OY-VIK Falcon 7X.
Our flight from Lydd took about 80 minutes, we cruised at about FL240, our catering consisted of bottles of water, biscuits and danish’s (from memory). It was a Great flight with a really terrific Captain who was watched over by Malc’s son, Scott, who is a Senior Training Captain with Tui/Britannia... So we were in good hands!!
We had plenty of time to kill at Lelystad and as some of the guys had not been previously a walk around airside (which at the time was allowed by the airfield operators) even if you were not flying. So during that time the following were logged.
