Evening guys,
Real long shot but does anyone have any old(ish) Barbados Or Mustique Registers available?
I went, with the family, to Barbados back in 2000 and logged the following but sadly cannot find any of them in ADU.
Seen 14.07.2000 at Bridgetown (BGI) 8P-BGC Aero Commander Trans Island 8P-MAL Cougar (wreck) located by the Flying Club
Seen 15.07.200 at Bridgetown (BGI) J8-VBD Aero Commander
Any help (con number etc) would be appreciated.
Cheers guys.
Bill

Bill , just a thought , many years ago WLAG produced several non British registers , I am far from sure which ones but what you require might be among them . The Military Spotters Forum have downloaded just about all WLAG monthly magazines and several publications so it might just be that someone still has old registers . It may be worth asking ! Chrisj

Hi Bill,
I have a 1978 Barbados register by Air-Britain, but it appears to be a little to early, just to confirm we are talking GA-7 Cougar and not the helicopter variety ?
In terms of information coming from the authorities such as official registers, Barbados is a bit of a nightmare, but give me a couple of days and I will see what I can dig out....
Cheers
Adrian

I went to BGI in 2002 and 2004, saw both Aerocommanders but the GA-7 must have gone by then. I am still awaiting a tie up to 8P-BAW C172, great little airport.

Hi Rob,
I am trawling through all my old register updates for Bill's GA-7, so I'll keep an eye out for 8P-BAW as well, I said earlier that the Barbados register is a bit of a nightmare, but I just did not realise just how little information comes out from there there
Cheers

Hi Adrian, I "think" we may have solved the 8P-BAW mystery, she started life as N9079C, c/n 182-00390 but according to what I can find, and the FAA website and PlaneBase appear to confirm, she was sold in Barbados but no details of the reg are available. She appears in photos with both retractable and non retractable u/c so unless two C182's carried the same reg, she must have been converted at some time, if that's possible.

Really very lacking and practically no use at all... Sadly. Bill

Evening All I have compiled a Barbados Civil Aircraft Register from Colonial days to present, the only problem was getting it onto pro-boards for people to view. I have placed it into a Google drive, so by following the link you should be able to view / download the document (it is in word format) drive.google.com/file/d/1n32LUh437mJs_eb1veHWBr5rWq_p7iXp/view?usp=sharingI hope this answers a few questions, but I am afraid there are still problems, especially with the re-use of registrations. With Bill's GA-7, this has been reported several times as a Beech 23 derelict outside the flying club, and I could find no record of a GA-7 going to Barbados.... Cheers Adrian

Hi Adrian
Thank you so much, what a great piece of work, I'm sure it will prove invaluable to those of us fortunate enough to have visited such exotic shores!

Cheers Adrian Hi Adrian, Well I wouldn’t rule out a Beech 23, if the other reported dates coincide with mine... Apart from the engine configuration the cabin/fuselage do look somewhat similar... I once won an Aircraft Recognition competition when I was a cadet in the ATC, but we can all make mistakes... Adrian, when we meet, I’m going to buy you a pint for your sheer persistence, on my behalf.... Cheers mate. Bill

I had my honeymoon there in 1982 and returned in 2002. It was much more accessible in 82 and I was allowed to walk around the flying club and hangar area taking photos. I hired a Cessna 172 and pilot to fly a circuit of the island. I saw Cubana Tu154 and Britannia first time but there was a lot more security in 02 and I got stopped by plain clothes police. We took a Caribbean Star DHC 8 to St Vincent but overall spotting was more difficult second time. Still a great place to go though. Maybe I could find some old photos sometime if anyone is interested.
