Not a bad day, but could have been better! Made 5 -
VN-A150 777 Vietnam on LHR approach HZ-AK25 777 heading W OTT OH-BLP 717 on LHR approach operating for SAS EZ-A778 777 Turkmenistan on LHR approach OE-LGO DHC8-400 on LHR approach operating for Swiss
And 3 scrapes
UP-CJ011 CRJ2 ex EC-ILF of Air Nostrum G-JZHB 738 ex D-AHFS of Tui HB-JVM EMB.190 ex OE-IHC of Niki
But missed the star performer, UP-A2001 A320 of Kazakhstan Government, tracked it into and out of Shannon but somehow it hid behind a cloud as it went through visible airspace!

It's been cloudy here all day, so have missed several interesting OTT including 02-0203 USAF 737, MM62209 Italian AF A319 and D-ALFE 77F OF Lufthansa. But LHR are using 09 which means I can see the approach - have made 2 so far, N35953 789 of United, and TC-JJZ 773 of Turkish, probably on its first visit (delivered 15/04/15).

Well, after being intermittantly cloudy, then bright, then dull for most of the day, it's now at 5.45 decided to clear right up and it's 360 degree blue skies here. Have potted seven so far, quite a bit of light stuff buzzing around.

Thanks Captain, might be an investment worth making then. I use UKQR and AFQR and they're really handy

Cloud tried to break here but did not succeed, now completely overcast again. A lucky spot in one of the small breaks was N966H F7X heading ESE at FL410, not trailing. One more on LHR 09 approach, VP-BBR 787 of Azerbaijan.

Spoilt for choice.. A day at FAB tomorrow or a day in the park at LHR.. ? Got a day off and the sun looks good.. but caught in two minds as to where to go, the bridge at FAB on 06`s with the SBS in tow or LHR for 09`s with out. Wadda ya reckon chaps & chap`ets ??

LOL Smudger, I guess it's more about personal preferences - I'd choose LHR simply because being so far west here, I would definitely pot a whole stack there , all the European based short and medium haul stuff I never see here. Last month I attended a meeting in London, it finished early, I went to my hotel at Dartford and potted a hundred in three hours.

If i go to LHR with out the SBS, Im gonna be lucky to finish with 3 or 4 - both spots have a chip shop near by so that's no help either.. Oh what a to do...

Clear today, but very hazy, could only just see the LHR 09 arrivals, of which 1 made, D-AIUL A320 of Lufthansa. Also made 02-0203 737 of USAF, PH-BVN KLM's latest 773 heading for Peru, and newish Gulf 650 VP-CGN (c/n 6112) descending to STN (also saw this reg on a Gulf 550 c/n 5149).
