Just seen a post on the FAB forum re new dates for the 2021 Trade Fair no the 14th and 15th of August. Still showing as the 1st and 2nd of May on the Popham website. Does anyone know if this is correct. Seems a no brainier to me though to move it to later in the year with the current state of the virus. Stay safe Bob

Still nothing offically on Popham's website but if you think about it logically it can't possibly take place in May as the vaccinations won't have been completed by then so August is a good date to go with.

Me too Dave but in all honesty, I really do think we will be having yet another fallow year, much as it grieves me to say that.

I completely agree Graham. Given that RIAT takes a good 12 months planning and, given the situation in the rest of Europe, if RIAT does go ahead - I suspect it will be a very low key event with RAF and possibly US participation. My gut feeling is that it will go the same way as Glasto.
For smaller events, I'm more hopeful but there is clearly a log jam building up for later in the year. Hopefully the Reds might be able to do a few seaside shows but that will clearly be subject to the lifting of lockdown restrictions.

Just an afterthought but even if the likes of LAA, Legends and Popham get cancelled - it would be nice if the Reds could do some flypasts over NHS hospitals like the Spitfire did last year.

I think the Reds will be confined to flypasts only again this year. So far as I know they are unable to go on the annual 'Spring Hawk' exercise to Cyprus where they get up to display standard in good weather and receive their OK from the the top brass to display.

Thing is, IF we are all ready to go by August time, which I seriously hope for but doubt, there will be a huge log jam of events that should have taken place earlier in the year. I don't just mean air shows/fly ins, etc, there are usually three local beer festivals around where we live, usually held in April, June and July, They are all provisionally planning for August too so with three on top of one another, attendances will be down as most blokes won't get three passes in a month to go out and get trollied.

Dave, Should have mentioned that it was just for pilots and not the public- noticed the dates which coincide with the Bristol Balloon Festival- and could be a long day/weekend if both still go on. Had my jab this morning- no side effects so far, I said to my beloved, if I suddenly start singing you'll never walk alone, to take me straight to A & E that is no disrespect to Capt Tom by the way. I bit the bullet and sent an e-mail to Mike at Popham- and he confirmed that the Trade Fair is "Planned" for the 14th-15th of August because of Covid, but as we all know things can change. So at least we have confirmation regarding what is on the BMAA and RAC websites. Fingers crossed it goes ahead on the above date. Stay safe Bob

Tickets now on sale, and you need to purchase a ticket before the day. Info from another group, although there is nothing on the Popham website about no ticket sales on the day, it was confirmed in telephone conversation with Popham.
Just found the Facebook page and that states entry is by pre-purchased ticket only.

Indeed, you can not pay on the day, although i think this will catch some out. Tickets are numbered and seem to be for either day, although probably can't get away with using the same one both days. Remember gates do not open until 10, crazy I know.

It is on their website and the RAC Calendar of Events site- just go into events and click on General Public for the trade fair and book your tickets- I will not be going- as I will be off to Goodison Park instead. It does say if you can't go you can ask for a refund. Happy Days Bob

The first two visitors by air arrived yesterday afternoon and are clearly seen on the web cam as they are parked over by the chequred coloured van:
G-TPAL Quik 450GT G-SJMW Minisport
Both owners have an address in Scotland so hopefully they are staying as I need the Minisport which was only registered in December 2019,the Quik is very common at this event.
