The trouble with watching utube is you get into what's known as the utube worm hole..... So it progressed to trains after the old aviation stuff. The worrying thing for me as a tender mid fifties gent is that I recognise a lot of the cars in this 70 year old clip, which makes you realise how much times have changed and how old you are 😳

Lovely vid clip Jeff, my first ever visit would have been about 20 years after this, about 1968, to take a train to Leeds. I'll never forget the Deltics there, they made a noise unlike any other diesel engined loco, a low throbbing hum and the occasional high pitched gurgle from those big Napier supercharged 2-strokes. To be hauled by one to Leeds was just fantastic.
I'm just about old enough to remember being pulled by a steam loco. Growing up for the first eight years of my life in Basingstoke, 1956- 1964, my parents loved London and we would travel up on the train 2-3 times a year for the day, often behind a Merchant Navy Pacific. Great memories.

Great memories Jeff, I am old enough to remember those days, the sheds looked great just rammed with steam, and a couple of Streaks parked up- when I collected trains, me and my mates used to visit Edge Hill sheds, on a regular basis mainly on a Sunday, when you would see a few Semi's (Coronation Class). Amazes me how long the Shunters have been going for- still knocking around now. Carried on train spotting even after started collecting planes in 1963, and during the late seventies early eighties started up again doing tours of Crewe Sheds and works an visiting Toton. Can never replace the days of steam though, and also the old prop aircraft. Thanks for sharing. Stay safe Bob

A short video clip featuring the Deltics at Kings X. Lovely sound at 1.10 as the Deltic gurgles out from the platform at the start of its journey. I can remember the one that took me to Leeds, it was D9015 "Tulyar" but can't remember which one brought me back. All were named after Regiments and Derby winners but just 22 were built. If I recall, at 3300hp, they were at that time the most powerful diesel locos on the rail system.
