This might be old news to some here but I was saddened to learn today that Barry "Baz" Wallond, owner of the replica "Spitfire in the Garden" PL279 Z-ZF at St Mawgan had passed away in July 2018. He built her single-handedly at considerable expense and used her to raise tens of thousands of pounds for various charities. I spoke with him once, back in 2013 when I took this photo. He'd had a very varied career, firstly in the RAF and then later on for the Cornwall Coastguard where he was responsible for saving many lives. If you pulled into the layby by his bungalow, he'd always have time for a chat if he was outside or would come out if he saw you pull in. His enthusiasm for his Spitfire was infectious and I'm sad to hear rather belatedly of his passing but happy that I had that chat with him eight years ago. Wishing you Blue Skies Baz......
