SEEN 09.45 EYEBALLED ONLY SOUTH OF ME HEADING YEOVIL AREA TO WESTLAND BATTERSEA HELIPORT AS WHE01 PER TRAIL
IT LATER MADE A LOCAL FLIGHT TO AND FROM BATTERSEA THEN RETURNED TO YEOVIL AREA AND MADE A LOCAL FLIHT THERE
ANYONE KNOW WHAT THIS IS FOR SURE AS THE REGISTRATION APPEARS TO BE REGULARLY REUSED? AND THERE APPEARS TO BE MORE THAN ONE IN USE ON IT IF YOU LOOK AT FLIGHTS HISTORY
THANKS
REGARDS
JOHN

From memory, it's now listed as an A149? the military version and is currently being touted as the RAF Puma replacement

Hi John,
I-RAIU is regularly reported on FC making flights from Yeovil. It is an AW.189.
Cheers,
Bob

Whilst I-RAIU is correct, different Apps have been showing it as other, more interesting identities- I’ve seen it showing as both a Russian civil registration and a Cypriot Police serial!

From planebase, 'Noted at Yeovil on 17/5/2021 painted dark grey and now used as the AW149 demonstrator'

Thanks for your replies Jeff, Bob and Phil
Have now spotted some recent photos (29/04/21) of I-RAIU at Westlands, Yeovil on ABPIC, it's either a very dark blue or black and marked AW149 on the tail, and given as construction number unknown, so it looks like I'll have to wait for that
That registration certainly looks like it's been long used as a Test type registration by AW

John

I (or rather FC) stand corrected. Thank you all.

Hi Bob,
If the construction number is 93001, a quick google suggests it was built as an AW189K with Safra Aneto engine's so the AW149 markings now could just be a rebranding exercise for the different engines

John

Hi John,
What I have just been told is that the AW.149 markings are purely for the demo to the RAF.
It is definitely an AW.189.
Cheers,
Bob.
