Well, what a day I had @ home yesterday,I thought I might see some gliders as the championship @ Lasham was in full swing and I only live some 15 miles to the north so did expect to see some, what I didn't expect was the vast amount of gliders that converged into the area from the south, north & west with a lot of the gliders seemingly using Lasham as a focal point before heading off into the directions from whence they came.I made 14 gliders over my house yesterday which is only one less that I made @ Lasham last Sunday:
Gliders potted:
G-CKBC Rollenden-Schneider LS.6C G-CLYC Jonkers JS.1 Revelation G-CLXN Schempp-Hirth Ventus 3T G-CKFP Schempp-Hirth Ventus 2CT G-DLOT Glasflugel 304S G-FEBU Glaser Dirks DG-1000S G-DDJN Eiriavion Pik 20B G-CFYM Schempp-Hirth Discus BT G-CKOD Schempp-Hirth Discus BT G-CKDO Schempp-Hirth Ventus 2CT G-CJUF Schempp-Hirth Ventus 2CT G-CJGR Schempp-Hirth Discus BT G-CKEZ Rolladen-Schneider LS.8-T G-OBUP Glaser Dirks DG-808C
What was more interesting to me was that according to G-INFO two of those that I potted are based @ Lasham, obviously they reside in two of the many glider boxes that are parked up there,it was obviously a good day for gliding as one of the gliders taking part in the championship (G-LLLL) got as far as Mansfield before heading back to Lasham.
Other stuff potted:
XA-VRW A320NEO Volaris (Delivery fight TLS-KEF) CS-TJR A321NEO TAP Air Portugal (LHR-LIS,this is the one in the retro scheme) G-KIAN PA-28R Cherokee Arrow 201 N7456P PA-24 Comanche 250 M-KNOX Cessna 525C Citationjet 4 (inbound Blackbushe) OE-LVA Gulfstream G500 (inbound Farnborough) M-AXIM Cessna T.206H Stationair G-CPMW PA-32R Cherokee Saratoga 301 N400J Gulfstream G650ER N115JS Global Express 6000 (inbound Farnborough,then went to Biggin Hill) G-VTLY Global Express 6000 (inbound Farnborough) N402LC Lockheed L.382G Hercules Lynden Air Cargo (ATH-SNN,my last but one)

Had an excellent weekend away at the Midlands Air Festival. it began on Thursday evening with a drive up to Birmingham airport to stay at the travelodge. A quick stop at Kidlington on the way up- even at 21.30 I made 6 outside including three 2-. I arrived at Birmingham at about 23.00 and had a room overlooking the airport. I made 16 before departing at about 08.00 on Friday morning for the first day out. First stop was Shawbury- made 4 of my last 5 Junos. Next was Sleap- logged 76 here, making 20! Then Tilstock for the based Airvan. Back past Shawbury hoping for something different. There was now a Jupiter but not one of the new ones. Then Wolverhampton- logged 66- needed about 18. Then off to Ragley Hall for Friday evening, all day Saturday and Sunday morning (staying at Birmingham airport each night).
Then back home via Wellesborne Mountford and Kidlington again (running too late for Enstone as well). Will post logs and pics when able!

Spotted on PP this morning a very needed USAF C-17 over the pond and a post on FC said it was going into the 'Hall. Could I resist - no (surprise, surprise - sad isn't it, chasing C-17s?). So pile in the car and off on the long trek up to East Anglia. Good thing I did, as 30min after I arrived, it departed back to Andrews AFB (MD). Long trek back home again.
Visitors noted were:- 05-5151/HH C-17A 15WG.........arrived about 12.00BST and departed about 14.00bst
00-0175 C-17A 305AMW 07-7176 C-17A 436AW 87-0035 C-5M 436AW
1st C-17 of the year and 1st pot of the month. Also, if one ignores the 14x Altus and 1x Edwards machines that I am not likely to see (barring miracles), I now don't have to pay any attention to those from FY00 or later.

Well the last few days have been slow- overcast Thursday and Friday and improved Saturday afternoon- anyway glad in a way as I have been doing after work painting in my Man Cave- preparing for the wardrobe and computer table fitters to arrive tomorrow morning. Also LPL was dead as well- just one biz jet missed going into same that I needed, but that was whilst I was in work. The net result was Thursday- Nil, Friday- Nil and Saturday shock horror ONE:- N334QT- A330F Avianca Cargo East to AMS nice trail. My last one of Avianca. So hopefully when the Wardrobes and units are sorted on Monday and Tuesday normal service can be resumed, oh no back at work Wednesday Happy Days Bob Sunday:- Overcast

Managed to make two of the G7 machines today:-
1.) 10.22BST "ASY305" A39-007 KC30 RAAF en route Brize Norton to Newquay by a direct route over Bristol. With the help of binos, I managed to watch it being slowly swallowed up by the haze over Bristol.
2.) 20.01BST "JF002" 80-1112 B773 JASDF out of Newquay this evening over E of Devizes going home to Japan in lovely evening sun.
The Korean B744 was much too far South for me to see.
